Official 2024 NCAA Football Thread

The Ferris State Bulldogs are the division 2 champions. The last time they won they went back to back the same as Georgia. We'll see if history repeats itself.

 

Tennessee looks good.

almost like, the SEC doesn’t have that many strong teams.

 

Tennessee is another team that looked like world beaters against shit teams. Chattanooga, NC st, Kent st, UTEP. Big time stat padding games. Yes, they beat Alabama, which UGA couldn’t do, but I wasn’t overly impressed with anyone aside from Dylan Sampson on the team. Nico didn’t do shit

 

I don’t disagree.

I’m just saying maybe the SEC as a whole isn’t herculean compared to all other conferences. Hence, the committee still being correct in their choices.

 

Oh the SEC 100% had a down year. There were no teams that were head and shoulders above the others. I’m not saying they should have had Alabama, ole Miss, or SC in over Indiana and SMU. Don’t lose 3 games. But I do think Indiana’s chances should have been over after the OSU beat down. They had 1 chance to show they can play with the big boys and they pissed their pants. Who you play has to matter at some point. Sure, there’s some bias in that. But there’s also stats and evidence. You can’t beat up on JV teams all year and expect a playoff spot. “But you can only play who’s on your schedule.” Then schedule better OOC opponents and beat them.
My main issue is with Indiana. SMU at least made their conference game…even though their schedule also sucked. I get them being in. You can’t say conference championship games matter then keep the losing team out of the playoff while the #3 team in the conference makes the playoff while playing one less game. That would make conference championship games disappear completely.

The format is currently a joke with the auto bids and champs getting a bye. It needs a massive overhaul before they even think about expanding to 14 or 16 teams, which, in my opinion, is one of the worst things they can do.

Alabama would have been a better opponent in every game so far.

 

Having to deal with Tennessee fans daily, this game was hilarious.

 

My picks for round 2:

Penn State v. Boise State: Penn State. As much as I'd love to see Boise State win, I just don't think it's that realistic and I don't think it's a big enough matchup for James Franklin to choke away.

Ohio State v. Oregon: I think OSU gets their revenge in this game. I think the Oregon offense is great but I'm not convinced the defense can overcome Ohio State's offense. I've also said that if Ohio State doesn't win the national championship this year, what were they even doing this off-season? Go ducks!

Notre Dame v. Georgia: Georgia all day. I think even a down Georgia will be a much more formidable opponent for ND than Indiana ever was going to be.

Texas v. Arizona State: Texas, no question. Texas is one of the top 3 teams I'd like to see win it all. I don't know if they'll actually be able to pull it off but I think they have this matchup.

 

Gosh I hope your wrong only because Jeanty got screwed out of the Heisman, I can't stand Ryan Days anger issues, Gunner Stockton can be the hero over Frankenstein, and I'm tired of seeing camera shots of McConaughey,

Alabama lost to Tennessee who got whooped by OSU, got whooped themselves by an unranked 6-6 OU, and lost to an unranked Vanderbilt.

So, nothing you said can actually be proven.

 

I still can’t understand why Clemson stayed 16th. I know they got in for winning the ACC, but how did they not move up at all after doing that?

 

No I can’t. Guess I was just disappointed in the games.

 

There have been blowouts or lopsided games in every playoff.

 

But these games were so predictable on the outcomes. You knew which team was going to get blown out. The next round’s will be better.

 

And that’s kinda the point right? Playoffs get better as they go on…

I'd love to see Boise State prove me wrong because I always root for them (after Michigan, of course). I just don't believe they will. They nearly beat Oregon but that was early season. They seemed to struggle a little more as the season went on. Relying on Jeanty may work against a Mountain West defense but more talented defenses are going to account for him much better and I'm not sure their pass game is creative enough to help him out against teams like OSU, Penn State, etc.
