Looking at buying LUXX series LED tail lights for my 17 Tacoma. Anyone have these? A little pricy and wanted some feedback.

Have you looked into VLED? The extreme is very bright and worth the cost. Their customer service is great as well.

    This and that
+ another for Vleds. But I used the 50 red and @Puppypunter full C harnesses.

Okay, but the MESO version is $50 less than the one linked above.

Of note, for those wavering about "is it worth it to upgrade" I'd say yes, emphatically, for the simple reason that LED lights are faster to light up to full brightness and thus are more safe. Traveling at speed (I'll let someone else more pedantic do the math) the quicker your tail lights appear, the more reaction time you give everyone behind you to respond. It can translate into many feet of advanced warning. That by itself should require all vehicle manufacturers to simply default to LED over incandescent lights for the rear IMHO.

Meso used vleds to design that product and after release, switched manufacturers and began using an inferior company for bulb production. I went through 3 switchback bulbs in 2 years (both driver and passenger sides). The white LEDs kept failing. To their credit meso replaced bulbs for free twice, but that is still way to frequent for led bulbs to be failing.
The third time, I bought the vled switchbacks that they make for the meso kit and haven’t had a single issue since. Wish I had just gotten the vled kit to begin with…

VLED. I have had them for a couple years now and they have been flawless. They are bright and easily seen. Well worth the price, especially when bought on a Black Friday or Boxing Day sale.

Which VLED bulbs did you install?

I am interested to install this license plate light bar:

    https://www.vleds.com/featured-vehi...ights/2016-up-tacoma-lp-reverse-13-white.html

But I'm wondering if I should also replace the two reverse bulbs too - and if so, how strong? 400 lumen sufficient, in combination with the 2500 lumens from the license plate bar?

    https://www.vleds.com/featured-vehi...coma/all-other/reverse-lights/921-36-w-2.html

    850 and 1500 probably overkill?

My garage backs out into a dark alley...

I believe mine are the basic kit. I don't remember there being 3 kits available when I bought mine.

LOL - thanks for the full disclosure

I back out from my garage into a dark alley. It's a safe neighbourhood, just hard to see sometimes.

I was thinking of adding a license plate reverse bar - questions:

    1. How does the Morimoto outperform the VLED version (all I know is the VLED puts out 2500 LM)?
    2. Is a license plate boost bar enough? Or is it recommended to replace the reverse light bulb as well? (I'm hoping you're not just trying to sell me more stuff LOL) - does it REALLY add a lot more light?

    Thanks :)
