The Toyos were loud from the start. I’ve had 3 sets of BFG’s in the past that were much quieter from the start. I wanted BFG’s on my last set but couldn’t get them & wound up getting the Toyo’s, which weren’t bad tires, but were defiantly louder than the BFG’s. I put over 45,000 miles on them & they still had some tread left. I’m so happy to have the BFG K0’s now.

Thanks! Yes stock size. I had Open Country 3’s 265 70 16 but I think this truck came with 245 75 16’s original size though (SR). That’s what the tag says on the door pillar. I like having the wider tires.

I installed a set of Toyo AT3s back in June on my truck. After all the positive reviews I was surprised by the drone and how loud they were. I used Discount Tire's great return policy and switched them out for a set of KO2s. I was surprised how much more quiet they were as well.

Correct.. from what I saw the leaf springs on every 4x4 Tacoma I have owned gen1(x3) gen3 have the leaf packs bolted up over the rear axle.

The gen 4 Tacoma SR has the sam
I believe (from what I saw on the lot) that the SR/SR5 have leaf packs that bolt up UNDER the rear axle. Not like a traditional Tacoma where the leaf packs sit up above the rear axle and out of the way ...

$36k for a bare bones SR 4x4... No thanks...

Pretty sure the Gen 4 Tacoma’s have coil sprung rear suspension. Maybe just some of them?

I like the 4 wheel disc, and the turbo. Wish I had both. Not real crazy about the new body lines though. Like the look of the 3rd gen.

Most do, the SR and SR 5 still have leaf packs in the rear.

Guess they are the only remaining utilitarian fleet type trucks left in the Toyota lineup. The Tacoma has become a completely different animal

Coils and a rear sway bar. Hellwig makes a rear sway bar for the 3rd gen but you have to drill into the frame.

    ?

The 2024 -25 Tacoma SR and SR 5 don't have rear independent suspension? They both had small leaf packs bolted up under the axle

I guess that makes them trucks still. I was checking a 4th gen out in a parking lot and noticed coils in the rear. Thought it might help our 3rd gen resale values, 3rd gen will be the last of the “old school” trucks if thats what people want. Not so tech heavy and can still work on them for the most part
