Today when I came off the freeway after being on it for 30 mins or so I can to a stop on the off ramp. When traffic was clear, I applied normal acceleration and thats when it felt like my truck's rear axle was almost loose. Its hard to explain things when not in person but maybe this makes sense?

I went to pull over but had to go thru a red light first and it happened again. It was like a delay almost in acceleration. It drives normally now and only did those two times when taking off from a complete stop. Thing is it feels I got tapped lightly by the car behind me right when I would start moving. Same thing happens when I come to complete stop, it feels like a light tap from the car behind me.

Does this make sense? I really can't do the whole pay the dealership thing right now if it is tranny issues.

Speaking of the dealership, they just did a full tranny flush and tune up a couple weeks ago.

I believe this is normal. Can you feel a significant jolt or is it just how it shifts?

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
My 06 Taco v6 auto did this occasionally. I was worried it was because I towed ALOT with it and might have hurt the tranny. I was searching the web for people with the same situation and it seems to be somewhat common. I know what you mean regarding the slight "tapping" sensation as the tranny seems like it's hooking up.

It mainly did it to me when I was reversing, coasting slowly backwards, stopped, toss in drive, and move forward somewhat quickly. I NEVER allowed the truck to shift into D while still rolling backwards, I am very paranoid about the tranny hooking up and stressing it out while still moving backwards.

In the end I think most people experience this from time to time, but I had almost 100k miles on my first taco and other than that I was fine. Also never affected my towing.

I'm sure some 1st gens will bash me for this post how our trannies suck and whatnot, I'M READY FOR IT BABY! :)

and it would only happen in certain places like slight agile down hill or something and it was a problem.

Well lately its been shifting kind of weird, but in thread I started concerning that, I was told it was the torque converter. I think by whippersnapper? lol I dont remember.

But to answer your question, no significant jolt. Just a little "bump" I guess when I'm at a complete stop.

I wouldn't worry about it. That sounds normal. I have a Toyota sequoia thy does that too along with my Tacoma.

Its not too bad but I'll just keep driving like normal and see. It seems to definitely be shifting a little weird.

Sounds like classic axle wrap. Do you have a lift?

One solution is to put some leaf spring helpers on it to firm up the back. Another is AAL for a lift if you don't already have one.
