You sound like me. My house has every quirk you could expect. Think it’s made that way? NOPE! Oh that’s an easy fix… NOPE! Wait what material is that? You betcha… everything weird they could do in the 60s.
Thank god the owners had money and didn’t cheap out at least (all copper wires, all plumbing in the house is copper, including drain lines. Only to sewer was terracotta… now replaced with black PVC or whatever .

 

Oh the plumbing has been something else. I have copper drain lines for the most part, but they're at the end of life span. Someone already did the line for the toilet and got rid of the cast iron/terra cotta going out into the septic.

The line coming from the well to the inside unfortunately is the original 1" galvanized. So guess who gets to dig up the front yard in the spring?

 

My dad was a hardcore smoker all his life… everything always had that. For walls, we found a wallpaper steamer and odorban worked wonders. Industrial vinegar worked on cleaning as well as those erasers. We had this wonderful stuff back in the day called “case cleaner” for ye olde beige PCs. I would make a tan case look like new. Even after years with a smoker.

Nothing that I’m seeing. That would appeal to me. Given I’m beyond 20 years, I have limited options and I’m a commissioned officer so there’s even less to choose from
