Has anyone installed the Aux adapter and had it work with an MP3 player? What brand of MP3 player?

I installed an Alpine 9884 a few weeks ago along with XM satelite radio and an AUX adapter to play MP3 players other than IPOD, well the AUX didn't work and I contacted Tech. Assist. and couldn't get it to work, I tried Sony and Zen, so we sent it back for a replacement. Tried the new cable this weekend and it didn't work either, so I gave in and bought an IPOD. The IPOD cable works just fine.
    This cable...

    i found this from crutchfield:
Note: You need to select Aux+ from your headunit's Setup Menu to disable Full Speed for iPod and enable Full speed Aux-in.

i guess if don't disable ipod full speed the head unit is always searching for it. hope that helps

Yeah we tried that, spent an hour on the phone with Tech Assist from Crutchfield and nothing worked. Went through all the steps in the manual multiple times, I tried and my BF tried, we did a complete reset, etc.TA thought maybe the MP3 wasn't compatible, but the adapter says for all MP3 players and we were trying a Sony which should work being a major brand. Then they thought the cord was bad, sent a new one and it still didn't work.

    Thanks :)
