Yea, I had a bit of that too with the MIL who used lotion and was forever feeding strange animals cans of cat food and tuna. The layers I had to remove from ever surface was crazy. I think I replaced door knobs yearly as the finish would disappear.

 

The hardcore rooms I did an oil base primer and that seemed to work. The bathroom required a shellac primer even though it isn't recommended in that kind of area, but it was the only thing that sorta worked. It's going to be completely gutted eventually.

Me too! Except it’s from city service. It’s copper in the house and at the cutoff, but it’s undersized. Plumbers love PEX or whatever, but I’m doing 1/2 copper for the run. Kiss my $$$ away. Have to cut a 6” section of the driveway out to remove the old and place the new….wheee!

 

Folks love to say - oh, just kilz. But that stuff can only do so much without applying like plaster.

 

All the water line copper is at the end of service life as well so I've been slowly converting everything to PEX. Right now they got 1/2 off of the pressure tank that I'm going to be going to 3/4. Hopefully between the line coming from the well and upsizing the house piping the shower will have more pressure than now which feels like you're just getting peed on

Thank you, that is what I meant. I remember when my parents built their house, my dad had to pay more for a 3/4 service for that very reason. That’s what I’m doing for the plan. If pressure doesn’t improve, I’ll be adding a pressure pump to standard to 60 psi. (I think that’s it). I miss that. Couldn’t leave hoses on, because eventually they’d leak.

 

It’s odorless to people with no nose.

 

Yea it still has some off chemical smell. I used it to prime the master bedroom (my room) and it caused a nice sinus infection
