I bought a knife at HF because it has a seatbelt cutter, but it has few other decent features except a blade that can be sharpened. Even the release mechanism is a push-aside bar in the finger grip which I do NOT want on a knife. No clue what the steel type is.

Want a better knife ... Benchmade, especially because the "safety" is a button on the side instead of a bar that I must push aside and risk finger injury. But the rest is still undetermined. There are types of steel, tanto-tip or not, serrated section or not. And that hole in the blade pictured above (Mini-Griptilian, 555-S30V I think) I am sure has some strategic value.

I think that Mini-Griptilian looks like a good one ... reasonable price, larger finger-guard curve, but still do not know the tactical reason for the hole.

The "hole" is just a method for opening the knife. Many Spyderco knives use the hole. A nail nick is found on many Swiss Army knives, a thumb stud is also available on the mini grip and other knives.

I should have guessed ... the other mini-griptilian has the thumb stud and this does not. Well, at least I have the answer. Reading on tanto now. S30V steel has a couple of complaints as "hard to sharpen" so I guess it is a good choice.

This video, while interesting, I found to be unbearably annoying.
And many of the tests were pointless imho since they weren’t consistent or effectively meaningless. And factory edge sharpness means what exactly? And he could have just skipped these three tests and showed the testing after they were all sharpened to 17 degrees. And closing resistance would change based on where he places the rod for each test. And opening resistance changes as blades break in/how the handle is held/what angle it is rotated at. And why did he hold the blade tips in place while testing their sharpness when there’s clearly a slot for the blade to rest in on the device?
And what about these “G2” handled Civivis. And where was this video made? And I did like some of his testing methods though. And I didn’t like his conclusion because I don’t draw the same one from these tests. And the edits were nice since they trimmed down the length of the video.
And he said “and” too much.
And it was far from “effortly” for me to type like this

This is just meant to be a humorous critique of the video. I did enjoy watching it so I apologize in advance if this is your video! Thanks for your content and the sheer amount of effort put into this, if that’s the case. It had to have taken sooo much time to make this

I have a $12 special from HF that has a seat-belt cutter. Since I have a Leatherman with a good blade that serves as sufficient for most truck purposes. For an EDC I would pony-up for a BenchMade.

Seeing alot of comparisons to the bugout. So I put em side by side. I'd say the bel Air is better in every way besides being a little heavier. Better blade steel, better scale material, deeper carry clip, and lower price.

Bought this Baladeo kid’s knife (left) for my young son. It’s a decent beginner blade, but the grip is overly chunky (and worse for it) in my opinion. So I’m going to make him new scales with a chunk of walnut I have lying around.
