The lady has no ability to reschedule meetings or opt to skip them... even if we've had a trip scheduled for six months. I'd rather have a device to handle this than the alternatives: Scrambling to find reception and waiting for her meeting to end, get a motel so she can have reception while I go hiking, or cancelling the trip altogether.

That makes sense, but I was not replying to you. The OP used the word “camping”.

My wife and I do a lot of camping. I mean, outside the ski season, we either go backpacking or overlanding almost every weekend plus three week-long trips each year. The only reason we check the weather is to know where to go and what to prepare for, not to decide if we are going to stay at home instead. So, we encounter a lot of times when sitting outside by the campfire is not an option: wind, snow, you name it; either huddled in our tent on backpacking trips on snug in the back our our Tacoma on overlanding trips. When the weather sucks, we play Yahtzee™, dominoes, card games, patty cake, or yes, watch a movie...

I stick mine into the sunroof, with a power cord to the PD100 12v charger. Strictly 'eh too lazy to do more'. Otherwise, PD100 output on a power bank does the trick.

I thought about the fancypants 3dp mounting with magnets, but it literally works while sitting between the sunroof and the slider that pins it in place. So.. lazymode it was.

Is your v1 still holding up? Mine broke a drive motor in heavy winds after about two years.

lol I unplugged the drive motor a long time ago and just put it on a spare wheel on my truck. Works fine without it. It's just heavy. Just throws error message on the app, but doesn't matter.

Is it just held in place between the glass and the sliding cover? Or do you have a suction cup mount of some sort?

just between the glass and sliding cover. Lazy mode. I guess you can add a towel or rag or something if it rattles too much.

I hadn't' even thought of that as an option. I'm a little disappointed after checking my yard with the starlink app - the best spot I have has 12% obstruction. Not really great for backup internet for WHF, but still better than nothing when the power is out. They have them in stock at the Home Depot down the street, So I guess I have until 12/8 to decide before the sale ends.

Yeah I was going to make a fancy mount but when it works 'well enough' just stuck into the sunroof I got way lazy.

The mini is on sale again for $449. I missed the last sale and thought I was out of luck. I just picked up the mini last night at Home Depot. I was a little surprised how small the box was.

The best part of working in the wilderness is... not being at the office. Can't beat the view. The happy hour after work isn't too bad either.
