Fuck that's giving me a flashback. UHC and my provider could not come to an agreement so I was left to find another primary care. After a month of trying and finding one, cancelling old appointments, I found another care provider close to here. Fast forward to this week and I get a letter from my "old" provider that UHC had finally come to an agreement. So, I re-scheduled my appointment and cancelled the new provider.

 

You would think, but alas corporate greed has no shame and gives no phucks

You know because rich people need more $$ so they can go all Scrooge McDuck

 

Apparently my insurance got dropped and I didn't even know it. Go thru wife's work actually, with Aetna. She is out on worker's comp so they lock her employee account. She wasn't able to make a healthcare selection during open season. When we called, HR said it would all just roll over, then she would have 2 weeks when she returns with a "Life changing" event to make a new selection if she wants.

Medical was supposed to last thru the calendar year, but they still dropped us. Found out when I couldn't pick up my insulin from the pharm, just a bit important to life in general. . .

This is exacty why I think there will be some drastic health care reform starting on January 7 th. Especially considering recent events of the last 2 weeks.

For future reference, down in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas across the border in Mexico there are many pharmacies more than willing to sell you what you need. There are a few things you can't bring back of course. Opiods, any anti anxiety meds for ADD, anything that contains a needle to help you inject.

Just leaving this tidbit right here. Do with it what you want.

Too many lobbyist and too much $$ on the table for real reforms to gain traction

We shun government regulation and rightfully so

But I would argue that this particular problem needs strict government regulation. Healthcare companies cannot be beholden to shareholders and serve the best interest of it's consumers

I see no other way because the industry isn't gonna have a come to jeebus moment, confess their sins and "do better"


But of course our government has been bought and paid for by the healthcare lobby so
