That weekend would probably actually be better for me, as it would leave the following weekend open to prepare for my trip.

Okay, so if we do it like the ice road truckers trip, except go south, we camp in Black River State Park Friday night 1/31 and then hit the trail south Saturday. Lots of available campsites that night in Black River State Park. Where do we end up and camp Saturday night?

Good question! I guess I better start looking at the route.

I know that the trail passes through Sparta and then heads toward Richland Center. If anyone knows anything in that vicinity we could try to plan around it. I just looked at one Park but it appears to be closed at that time.

Relentless Fab hybrid bumper, 2.5” Dobinsons IMS lift, RCI skids and sliders, block heater. Painted FJ Steelies. Was trying to keep it stock, now slowly building for the Wisconsin trails.
If I remember correctly (don't count on that) there is a fair amount of paved road on that part of the TWAT along with gravel. I see that there is camping available at Wildcat Mountain, but we might be able to push down to Wyalusing. Last time I did that section I camped at Black River falls and the next at Wyalusing but that was in October with no snow and ice to deal with.

    I'm up for the adventure.

My silence here has only meant I will not be participating in the Brewhaus or the winter camping........
I'm not that much of a diehard, yet.

The first time I did the winter camping, it kind of started out as a joke. And, I kept asking myself what the hell was wrong with me. But, it has ended up being pretty fun each time.

That said, I am also iffy on this winter trip.

But you have a mobile campground. Just fold the seat down and voila! Camping.

The seats don't fold level with the cargo area. But, I have a solution for that. :D

Still, it's cold in the winter. And, I'm not a big fan. I don't even ice-fish anymore. o_O

It's not the sleeping part that's bad. It's the whole "being outdoors when it's below 75°" thing that I struggle with.

I don't ice fish anymore either. Not because of the cold but because I had to quit drinking.....
If someone's out fishing on the freezing ice and not drinking, I really don't know what their purpose is.....I mean, what's the point then?

Haha! I was actually pretty ambitious about it 20 years ago or so. I would be unloading the truck and getting out on the ice before it was even light out sometimes. I still remember the day I found one of my hot spots on Moose Lake in Waukesha County. I think I drilled 50 or 60 holes that day by hand. I had several spots on that Lake that were mapped out in my head according to landmarks on shore, and I would start out at a certain Shoreline and walk so many paces and drill my hole, and usually I would be within 10 ft of the spot or so.

Nowadays, fishing is more about enjoying the weather and the scenery for me. And, I don't enjoy cold weather.:D

I'm about 50/50 at this point. Nothing better to do, kinda watching what the weather does.

I like the cold, because it's quiet.... And more people are indoors. Therefore.... There's more outdoors for me :D

I'll be working Thursday, can't make it. I am, however, still planning to get out ice fishing more than the one time I did last year due to lack of ice. Hoping to get out next weekend, but will probably have to go north a bit.

That's what I'm thinking I might do. I wasn't sure how work would be this week. But, it seems like I should be able to sneak out early Thursday at this point.
