Sorry to hijack this thread. To get back on topic. Where I hunted years ago there were a couple of old homesteads where you wondered what happened there. One that was so old there was no visible way in to it and a very mature tree was growing up inside where the home stood. And not far from that was another home in a lot better shape but long abandoned. Unlike the a fore mentioned there was somewhat of a trail that lead to it but getting there was an issue. At the time I would have assumed it would have been like Model T.

We had a big windstorm on the 19th. Some roads are still impassable.

Unfortunately some folks are already taking the opportunity to trash the place…

Surprised it wasn't already stripped to the frame. Saw a video the other day and the cops rolled down a street and it was just a frame left, the guy reported it stolen the day before.

It very well could be at this point. I didn’t approach the vehicle since it clearly looked suspicious and I had the kid in the truck with me. This particular road is about 14 miles in then back out and the photo was taken just short of mile marker 3. I don’t have much reason to go back anytime soon as I doubt much effort will be put into clearing this Forest road.

White gas... used for camping stoves and lanterns.

I happened on a semi truck laying on it's side early one morning, on a bitch of a curve with a sudden negative camber. The driver was standing in the middle of the road with a couple of guys that had already stopped and I had a hell of a time avoiding them and stopping without wrecking. I suggested that they might want to turn off the lights on the truck so that people would not follow it into the ditch, and also asked the driver what his cargo was. "White gas", said casually. And then it dawned on me, what I was smelling when I caught a whiff. Yeah, turn off your lights Dude!

In western states during dust-storm season, people are advised to pull off the road and turn off lights during the storm because others will "follow the lights" directly into the back of your vehicle. Probably the same applies if you pull off the road in the middle of a snow storm, blizzard or rain waiting for the worst to pass.

I found a dead guy while mountain biking. No signs of trauma, just sort of sitting/propped against a tree. I didn’t have my phone so made my way out of the woods and flagged down a lady who called the police and park rangers.

It sucked. I’m glad it turned out to be natural causes. I saw a press release concerning the issue which stated he had medical issues. truthfully? He looked at peace and where he “finished up” was a beautiful spot.
I was glad I found him because there are coyotes out there. It did Kindof ruin the rest of my ride tho.
