    Good Morning Rob :hattip:
    Welome to the porch :wave:. a terrific place to meet up with folks of different age groups (we even allow youngsters because we someone to cut the lawn) to talk about many topics. Nice thing is most folks are from different areas around the country so we get a different perspective on things from their neck of the woods :thumbsup:. When I started the thread I never thought I would still be on and here I am at 76 :eek:.

    Good morning all. Still snuggled in bed with my wife, a cup of coffee, and a couple kitties. Going to a special Christmas eve service at our church this morning. Then maybe a little wood shop time. Christmas day at the kids house tomorrow.
    Stay warm and blessings to you all.

    Sounds like a good start for you this morning. Like "in bed with my wife, a cup of coffee and couple of kitties" I could do it without the kitties (allergies :facepalm:) Enjoy the rest of your day and have a Very Merry Christmas and be safe.

    Good morning everyone! Have a blessed and safe Christmas eve day and eve.
    This will be the third year of all of us going to friends house tonight for white-elephant gift exchange. Rated G. Very family friendly. We keep the gifts at $15-20 max. Always a fun time. Usually about 30 folks...so this thing goes late. No alcohol, so it makes Christmas morning easier to get up and going.

    Our go to Christmas morning breakfast is Blueberry pancakes and sausage. This year I need to get the 2 chickens on the rotisserie and the shrimp ready to boil, chickens on before breakfast and shrimp in the boiling water after breakfast. Dinner is at my sister's home.

    @johneman Get well quickly.
    @boatswain The pudding looks delicious.
    If you are sick I wish you a speedy recovery.

    So many sunset and sunrise pictures. This is my happy space on Saginaw Bay, MI. Taken from the deck at my SIL's cottage.

    Good morning. We are going out later this afternoon to hear my son perform then back home. I do need to take the two chickens out of the brine, truss them up, and put some dry rub on them so I can put them on the rotisserie tomorrow morning. Other than that, not much happening today.

    Ha! I think I worked for a couple of those guys at one time or another during my 20 years. I worked for a second class BM at my first duty station ( he came off PBRs in Vietnam Nam) use to tell me Boatswains-mate was the best rate in the navy and he would rather be a Master Chief Boatswains mate than an Admiral. When he transferred, he was BMC, when he retired he was LTCMDR. I guess the money became more important. I retired BMC. but was never really stationed at a command where I could hide out.
    I will say, US Navy, best twenty years of my life, wouldn’t trade a day of it.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and all the veterans, and all the good people in the Tacoma world forum. Cheers!

    :santa: Good Morning and Merry Christmas Porch Pals & Sue! Doing nothing but smoking the turkey for dinner today, because the son can't stay all day tomorrow. All fine and dandy. Santa might have to dodge a shower or T-storm tonight! Hope everyone under the weather is all better by tomorrow! :santa:

    Morning all:

    Maby I should trade screen names with you D-knoww, a salute to you for your service and also for putting 20 years in and retiring as a BM chief .
    I had it good being part of the Nuclear Navy, ended up my last 7 months of active duty as coxswain of the Commodores Barge, think that promoted me to a Captain, in name only, when I was at the helm :laughing:, best part of that was I got a head of the chow line pass, and both the Lieutenant who I took my orders from, and the Commodore, were really good officers to work for.
    Interesting about the BMC you mentioned, must have been a really decent pay raise to LTCMDR, somewhere along the line a Master Chief mentioned that he would lose money if he went to WO1, so I think LTCMDR would be 6 more paygrades above that, I never got that high to worry about that! :rolleyes:
    Often wondered about this, if I knew everything in the BM manuals (yea, I still have them), I think you would need to be a darn genius, did/do you know semaphore and morse code, I sure as heck didn't!
