Why don't pictures like this ever trend

 

I've been looking at a 2000 Tundra TRD 4x4 today. It is stock and well-maintained at 177,000. I found an idea for what I would do with it. Always dealer-maintained. I would buy it from a Toyota Tech, the 2nd owner.

Recent timing belt, water pump, starter. All maintenance is from the same dealer. Local truck.

I remember figuring out these Vacuum lines something like 10 years ago. The 98 models have a bunch of vacuum lines and complicated EGR setup and became incredibly simple in 99 with an electric EGR.
A buddy from FL sent me this diagram to save me.

Maybe I've just been lucky. 265K and still on original electronics and engagement motor. As for gear sets, maybe regearing to 4.88s is the difference.

 

Pretty fortunate I'd say.

 

Well, Lexus is refunding me for sending me the wrong parts.

So now I've got steering knuckle shims and a seal driver for an 80 series I don't own

 

Are they all 80s parts? I'll buy em from ya, I have a front end rebuild coming up again

It's Joey's seal driver kit I bought awhile back, never used. And the shims are these here -



Part number came back to an 80 series.

 

Yeah they look like a full set of trunion shims, thanks dude! Mine were borderline last time I did the rebuild but at the time they were out of shims in US stock and I let mine ride.

 

Think I've also got that power steering saver thing somewhere if you want it.

 

Sure, can't hurt. My power steering started leaking a year ago pretty bad. I've just let the whole thing leak at this point, not a single well sealed but anymore on that engine haha

 

you don't take out the shims for nice and tight steering???

 

Some people swear by the Lucas oil stop leak for power steering stuff. It didn’t seem to do much for me though.

 

Or, you could just rebuild your power steering pump instead of using magical leak stoppers in a bottle

Mine leaked worse than it originally did when I replaced all the old low pressure lines, which lead me to replacing the high pressure line and rebuilding the pump with new seals

I remember the HP hose being like $1000 from Toyota. The Gates equivalent was a small fraction of that though.

 

What? No.

It was only like $150 give or take?

But I did also go with a Gates hose for less.
