It does indeed have a USB - C port to charge it, fairly good sound quality as a portable Bluetooth. That being said, I have used it once in 6 months.

Yeah - definitely a worthy idea. I in fact had posted about that at one point with some pics. It worked for a while but I think the foam got crushed down after a while and it started rattling again. I was joking about the construction adhesive but I am kind of toying with the idea of a tiny dab of silicone adhesive underneath the speaker. Just enough to hold it in place but that I could still unclip it if I ever needed to. I'm going to talk to the dealer service dept first when I bring in for my first 5k oil change (not waiting for the recommended 10k oil change of death!) but I expect they'll blow me off.

Again, hoping for an aftermarket replacement at some point, or maybe an OEM replacement in a year or two if/when Toyota abandons this silliness.

Potential thieves aren't going to know that it's "locked down" so you'll probably just get a torn-up dash to go along with the broken window.

potential thieves aren't going to give a fuck about it anymore than they care about your dash cam that's also worth a couple hundred bucks and can be removed just as quick.

I would rather have the removable dash speaker than the crappy center speaker the non jbl trucks come with.
The speaker cavity is the same size whether it has a bt speaker or a wired in speaker. I wonder if the dash mounted dock and bt speaker can be bought from Toyota?

I don't care that it's locked down to stop it from being stolen. No one is going to steal the stupid thing - and if they do my truck is insured, so I don't give a hoot.

I want it locked down to stop it from rattling. The rattle is maddening. That's my complaint.

I wished they had put in a dedicated sub (with enclosure) instead of the portable that I’m not planning on taking with me to my picnics.

I've been back to the dealer twice. I've been given the standard 'failed to reproduce' service feedback. I'll be bringing the truck in for 5000 mile service in Jan or Feb and I'll bring it up again. I'll be going to a different dealer this time. Not that it matters, but I can't easily bring the car back to the dealer where I got it, as I bought it far from my home and had it shipped in search of the best deal (totally worth it!). But I've got at least 3 dealers within 15 minutes drive from me and had originally been taking it to the closest for service, but I think they're just not even trying there anymore.

After 5,000 miles and taking it in and out a couple times it creaks on bumps badly. :annoyed:

The door panel thing is annoying, but has seemed to happen to both my 3rd gens and now 4th gen until about 10K miles for some off reason? We'll see on the 4th gen.

if yall are having door panel rattle issues, check to see if you have the door scuff protectors. the one on the drivers side on my truck was loose. i'm sure they are only held on by double sided tape and mine just needed to be pressed hard for 30 seconds and it's solid now.
