Went by the dealer the other day to get some parts for my taco . They had so many 24 on the lot .. it’s the end of the year . I have never seen so many 24 still sitting there . Prices ranged from 37k to 60k . The 60k was I force max off road with 5k off .

The 4th gen just sold more than any other Tacoma model ever has in the month of November. Adjusting for the first three months of the year with low sales due to low production volume and 2024 is about 15k trucks behind 2023 sales but ahead of every year prior to 2018 by a healthy margin.

I usually only see SR5 sitting on the lot. I had an underground OR and decided I didn’t like the color so I traded it for a black OR because they were offering $4k off.

It is not Covid any longer. All dealers have a lot of all cars and trucks on the lot. Just because there are cars on lots does not mean they aren’t selling people.

This. Inventories are starting to get up to par, albeit slowly. With the late launch I'm assuming that's why there's still 24's and not 25's on the lots. Not the only reason, but probably part of it.

Their selling, they're all $5k off, or you move to the next dealer....

Ford sold 151k Transits this year that's the second best year in sales since 2019 when Ford sold 157k units. I'm seeing '24 Transits on the lot. People are definitely buying Transit vans.

I don't think any manufacturer is selling the amount of vehicles they want to. Dealers and manufactures still look like they are struggling to move inventory. I think everyone will be driving fleet vehicles in the future, that's going to be the only things manufactures will be able to affordably build and sell.

Regardless of how many trucks Toyota has sold, there is a crap-ton of '24 Tacomas on my local dealers lot. I would be shooting for an absolute minimum of 10% off those trucks; they are already listed with 3-4k discounts on the web site. Tacoma shoppers in 2025 are going to have a better time of it than early '24 buyers, for sure.

Dealers are making double, and up to triple, on financing compared to the decade prior to 2022. Toyota owns a state charted bank domiciled in Henderson NV. For every dollar they take in deposits, they can legally lend that dollar 10x. Similar institutions lend 5x. They are currently paying 2.5% on deposits and lending it at 5-7% in the form of an auto loan. A $50k truck discounted $5k results in financing revenue of $6-$8k on a 60 month loan. Their interest cost on that money is less than 1% per unit sold. The dealer gets healthy share of that financing. Much easier to offer aggressive discounts when financing margins are fat.

Yea, there are quite a few 2024's in north Texas. Certainly more customer buying power now. They must be literally giving away Tundras.

Big discounts are not a sign of a poor selling truck. Most do not remember pre Covid pricing. I bought my 2019 Off Road brand new for 15% under MSRP.

But for some reason they still try to act like it is. I swear the first day of Car Salesman Training must be like this:
    1. People are dumb
    2. People will believe anything if you smile.
    3. How to call people names like Pal, Friend, Coach, Boss and make them like you
    4. Remember - People are dumb
    5. Your customers can't think for them selves
    6. Customers carry large amounts of disposable income with them
    7. People love to pay "Market Adjustment" add ons - especially if they are more than a few thousand dollars.

Being ~9% lower in sales volume q3 of 24 vs q3 of 23 isn't too bad with interest rates like these.

Always gets missed in these threads: compact/midsize is up as a segment, if you include all brands and make/models like the Ford Maverick that took a solid chunk out of base SR/SR5 work trucks. Competition is stepping up strong, so the Tacoma isn't the only decent compact/midsize option. Remember the Prius was once a nearly 250K/year car, when it was the only decent hybrid on the market.

Nationwide average is about 55 days inventory for Tacomas, a bit under two months. That means a dealer with 40 Tacomas on the lot is moving 20+ a month. Remember how normal people shopped for cars before covid?

Despite what some claim, I live in SoCal and here and Hawaii are the Tacoma capital of the world and I don’t see 4th gen’s often and I’m out and about quite often plus as others mentioned every dealer even the small ones are overflowing with them even the prado j250 wannabe land cruisers are sitting. Of course the tundras aren’t selling either so it will be interesting when the 6th gen 4Runner hits the lot since most people expressed they have no desire in that one either
