The 98 Maxima is back. I think I hear a small leak where the Warpspeed Y-Pipe joins to the exhaust manifold. I need an open parts store to get some Zerex G05. I did crack one of the coolant hoses that run through the throttle body.

At 260,000+ miles, it can still pass the coin balance test.

The vacuum hoses around the EGR valve are intense.

Drivers side lost another half of a spring, might be time to put the truck on bed rest until everything shows up

I got stop leak in my stocking this year. Triple A even sent me a Christmas card.

 

Ok so carbureted engine... starts immediately than dies right after no throttle applied

Runs at 1500 rpm by ear just fine with throttle held open just a bit

no vacuum leaks

 

Getting fuel? Carburetor not clogged at all?

 

Sounds like a vac leak tho

The only time I drove the truck it drove actually well but only did so with a big vac lean and the choke on the whole time

Idle mixture screws closed or open 1, 1.5, 3... 5 turns wherever does the same thing

 

Yep, I doubt it I cleaned it out really good the other month and ran it 3 times with multiple filters each time from a clean plastic gas can so it's not like sucking up rust from ahold ass gas tank

I opened it back up this evening and found nothing wrong

Does it have an egr valve stuck open? Remove booster vac line and plug it.

 

No egr it's got an aftermarket intake

That things still for sale? Damn. Yea the v8 kinda kills the point of the chassis too. Makes it way too back heavy

the 3.5 is 20lbs lighter than the turbo with all its bits attached

 

This was a fun business back in the day. I remember some customers bringing in a big brown grocery bag full of cash (average $4,500) to go all out for a completely new system. I figure they had a good crop.
Today's money would be about $25k. They would spend until all the cash was gone. Then I would get to deliver it and hook it up for them. We had some wild installation parties. I would bring along an album to give that I knew would get the party rolling.
