Did the traditional yams with the marshmallows on top.
The can had a date of 2017 on it, and was pressurized when I opened it. It spewed some yam juice. Pretty sure it's supposed to be a vacuum.
I ate it, because the toasted marshmallows are delicious. Yams seemed fine too. :notsure:

Colorado Fam! Just Got my Project back on the ground! Still need to install Sliders, Bumpers and paint the Baja Fenders but I can only really paint in in the warmer months and get good results. Part of me is kinda digging the bashed up crawler look given to it by the salvage yard bed. Truck was rear ended parked on the street and I had to straighten the frame before doing suspension and drive train Mods this fall. I'm really stoked to have it driving after 6 months on stands.

I have a few Questions about the rear axle on these Tacoma's and specifically if anyone is running a trail gear rear axle. I might turn it into its own thread depending on the response I get here... Just took this thing up to Cheyenne for its first drive yesterday and I had Pressure build up in the rear differential and I wanted to see if you can help me sort out some of my thoughts. Reading online I am starting to think that I drilled the differential breather in the worst spot possible. it is in roughly the factory location but It is directly above the Ring gear. I am thinking that I got fluid slugged into the breather line and this caused a build up of pressure leading to the fluid puking out of the Breather manifold under the hood and the also causing it to slowly leak out of the Housing flange connection. Let me know if this seems plausible. I also received no instructions with the Trail gear Housing and decided to fill the differential to level with the Axle tube Height. Are the Factory Toyota Axle bearings Lubricated from the differential or are the sealed bearing? When I pressed them onto the axle shafts they appeared to be like a sealed bearing type with the Nylon caps covering the Ball Bearings. I also installed the Factory Seals that Press into the Axle flange and appear to keep oil out from the ends of the Axles which leads me to thing they don't need oiling. The Seal diameter is way bigger than the axleshaft which leads me to think they are simply for oil retention. There is an o ring between the axle flange face and bearing to seal the oil. See Pictures to help illustrate what I'm talking about and one pic of the truck because you know... 20241224_130220 (1).jpg 20241222_161737.jpg Axle Seal.png

The wheel bearings are sealed and not oiled from the diff.
That brings up a question on your outer seals.. you said they are way bigger than they shaft.
The seals run on a ring that is pressed onto the shaft, and set to the correct depth.
Without the ring, the seals do nothing, and oil gets by and washes out the wheel bearing grease and runs down into your brakes.
The O-ring is to keep water out from the outside world. It does not keep the oil in.

Lower axle tube level should be fine for oil fill depth.

Hmmm. This make perfect sense now. I looked back through some old photos and found pictures of said Ring. In my brain remembering back I thought the c-clip was the only thing holding the factory Bearing on but it is in fact the C-Clip and the steel ring. I will have to reach out to Mark Williams and see what Diameter they made the new Press rings. I did not save the original rings which in hindsight was a mistake. Maybe they had the specs and made the new press rings to the correct O.D..... Jeez. Worst Case scenario Bearing Failure? I wonder what the Chances of someone having that OEM Press ring O.D. would be? Or any places I would look to find that information...

    Thanks for the Quick Response!!!

You can buy the rings, seals, bearings on Ebay if you are actually using stock shafts and the flange opening takes the stock seal.

That ring is like the only thing on the original shaft it didn't mic. New chromo shafts are 3" longer and dont use an c clip retainer. Just got off the phone with the people that made the custom shafts and they made the new press rings at 2.25" OD which is factory spec. Seal diameter is approximately 2.23" Success! Thanks for the help deathbysnusnu.

Anyone have a tile saw and would be willing to make a couple of cuts for me?

Looking to make this into a framable rectangular size. Willing to drive to your place so long as it's not crazy far from Boulder County.

It's been almost five years since I bought the front suspension from Tim. Think you'll be ready to sell the springs within five years?
