    Hey Everyone,
I noticed that my abs light was on, when I took it to the mechanic he told me that all of the abs sensor wires were damaged. The issue is that where I live, Tacoma parts are hard to come by. After checking online I saw that the OEM retails for around 250 USD for the front alone. Are there any aftermarket options available or do I have to bite the bullet and pay the 250? I would like to mention that I’m new to both this forum as well as owning a Tacoma.

    Where do you live?
Generally, the stand is to advise you use OEM on “safety” sensors.

But there have been many people use aftermarket sensors and have success.

RockAuto is full of aftermarket sensors.

I’d go with Beck/Arnley or Standard if going aftermarket.

I live all the way in South America, so it’s a bit of a hassle to obtain parts. With that being said, there are services that can order parts for you. It’s just important that you get the right part or else it’s a waste of time and money.

    Hope that helps.

How DIY savvy are you? If the answer is "not even a little", ignore the rest of this post.

Have you put eyes on exactly what is damaged?
First verify the mechanic's diagnosis, cause it kinda sounds like the start of a parts cannon to me.
This video details out the process in the FSM (Factory Service Manual) to read the ABS codes:
How to check ABS codes on 96-2002 Tacoma - YouTube

If you can narrow things down to which sensor is causing the problem, that would be better. I highly doubt at you have damaged ALL the wiring.

I damaged my rear ABS wire off roading, and was successfully able to cut and solder in a new ~4" section of wire. Use the correct gauge wire, and use the marine grade heat shrink (with the adhesive in it).

Thank you for the reply, in case of anything that might be the most viable option.

UPDATE: The line in the rear was fine but the sensors at the front were broken off. From the lack of dirt at the point of entry it could be due to the mechanic breaking it.

You just need to know what to buy. $10 ABS sensor from ali will work as well as $250 OEM.
