I had my truck in the body shop to get hail damage repaired and they accidentally scratched both headlights. I was chatting with them about replacing with aftermarket LEDs (currently OEM projectors). The replacement cost for OEM is ~$300 per side or ~$600 total.

Would you replace with OEM or get an aftermarket LED and pay the diff?

Can't really go wrong with OEM, but the great thing about the 3G is that there's many upgraded choices from aftermarket brands as well!

OEM LED would be nice, you may find some deals online, too bad you missed the Black Friday sale.

Oem. $600 seems kinda cheap for oem. I would make sure they get Authentic Toyota OEM and not replicas

IIRC body shops and such get better pricing from dealers just like mechanics sometimes get better pricing from auto parts stores.

    Surprised OEM won handily.

I clarified and they had priced AM and I said I wanted OEM. They said they'd try to buff out the scratches first.

Super bright, perfect cut off, DOT legal and factory fit. Just need an adapter harness to make plug and play.

The one's that @MGMDesertTaco listed are DOT legal as well, according to the website. The price seems to suggest they are. For OEM quality and legal regulations, you need to pay to play.

    Edited to remove outdated information.

What's the area of scratch and how deep is it? Unless it is very minor surface scratch that can be just buff out by finishing compound within lens outer surface hard coat thickness, any deeper scratch buffing out almost certainly distort beam pattern, no longer compliance level performance. At that point, lens must be re-hard coat but best body shop can do is re-clear. Very much different optical property. Thickness uniformity of front lens is very important for proper optical output. And AM OE replica, replacement lamps are large degrade in terms of optical output(CAPA certified still is large down grade, surface roughness of reflector, sharp edge of reflector segment edge, emitter selection, emitter BIN selection, many details are diluted largely)

Best to seeks new OE genuine lamp to replace.

Dave's not selling the harness anymore as of today. Store is officially closed. Puppypunter can probably make one though. Send him a PM.

OEM LED are pretty darn good. Nothing wrong with those if you’re happy with their output.
