Here is a pic of my GFC hatch open underneath the 270 awning. Obviously its not as big as the hatch on a 4Runner but it worked really well. In fact, it actually filled the gap between the awning and the camper so water didnt come in between when it was raining. Another option would be to install it "backwards" so it shaded the hood/windshield of your truck to keep it cooler in hot weather. I actually have the awning sitting in my shop right now. You are welcome to try it out on your truck. Im not using it since selling my Taco.

I dont really want to sell it because Ill probably put it on another truck some day. But also I havent been using it for almost two years now and both of my camping rigs have interior living space so I dont need it as shelter anymore...

Watched this guy zig-zag and roll over on the 202 this afternoon. Probably happened at 15:01. I was maybe 5-600 yards behind him. I believe he was on the offramp and then veered through the dirt and back up onto the highway. Surprised no other cars were involved.

Anyways, not even 2 minutes passed as you can see in the timestamp, and by complete chance there was a Phoenix FD ambulance that happened to also be going southbound on the 202. It came over the hill, saw what was going on and was able to race right up to it since all the traffic was filtering down to the only open lane. Dude apparently only had some minor injuries, but still couldn't have been luckier that they were right there not even a half mile behind where I was.

Anyways, ADOT posted the photos and I realized that they took them basically right after it happened and I found me in the work truck (absolutely raging at the amount of time people were drooling on themselves as they drove by). Swear people think staring at a wreck will somehow make it un-wreck itself.

    Stay safe out there, folks

Yeah they make riding around the valley much better because you can link pavement and dirt. Have you been down to Patagonia yet? The riding down there is incredible.

I've ridden most of the canals so far, and some dirt as well in the valley. I have not! Watched a video of a guy reviewing a bike down there, I really need to make the journey while the weather is still good. We finally visited Tombstone and Bisbee a few months ago. (Day trip)

The weather is good nearly year round. Town is at ~4000 feet so it stays much cooler. Fall and Spring are my favorite times to be there. Wild camping is abundant in all directions and there are cool new wineries popping up all over the place. Theres also Patagonia lake that has a huge campground and all sorts of other cool stuff to do.

That's good to know. The woman doesn't ride like I do, so she'll prob stay behind. Sounds like she can keep herself occupied.

Theres one hotel in town and it actually has a pool. There are a few restaurants/bars etc. but its a pretty sleepy town. No stop light, no gas station, just a bunch of old hippies and miners. You can def stay busy or just relax. There are a few airbnbs that have popped up because of the cycling scene. The biggest "hang out" in town is the beer bar Patagonia Lumber Co. They have live music 2-4 days a week and usually food trucks too. It was opened by the couple that puts on the Spirit World gravel race. There is one winery that has a tasting room in town, its called Queen of Cups, their wine is excellent especially for Arizona. The rest of the wineries are a 15-30 minute drive. Patagonia lake is about 20 minutes from town and is cool just for the day as well. for picnics, swimming, hikes etc. The scenery is beautiful down there so driving around isnt a bad thing.

It always blows my mind how some people will always just choose the worst possible option.

I have chosen the wrong exit. Do I:
-cuss about it and then just go straight at the bottom of the off ramp and right back on the on ramp...
    OR
-go full "the duke boys are back in town" with this F450 and try to kill myself and a few bystanders...

First lessons for my daughter when she was learning how to drive:
    1. You will go too far , miss your turn / exit. That's OK. Just stay calm and turn around when you feel it is safe.
    2. Missing your turn isn't breaking a law but then a lot of people break laws when they miss a turn, don't be one of them.
    3. Some times it is easier to take the long way if it means you miss an unprotected left turn. Always take the path of least resistance even if it takes a little more time. The drive will be more pleasant.
    4. Besides - your car has Air conditioning. You aren't suffering if it takes longer, but if you get impatient and get T-Boned, then you are really suffering.
