When I let off the gas while going over 60 mph I get that weird grinding noise on my reg cab. I know a lot of people with reg cabs have fixed this problem by flipping their driveshaft (back to front/front to back).

HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS AFTER DOING THIS? YES I'M YELLING. THANKS!

I did this after toyota replaced by rear differential assembly (This didn't fix the problem but I got a new diff at 67k :). Fixed the problem flawlessly. I'm at 80k and haven't had any problems since.
JSYK the problem happened after I put a lift on my regular cab.

I'm stock and have the same issue as described. I flipped my driveshaft and it got rid of the grinding sound, but caused a lot of other uncomfortable vibrations. Flipped it back to normal after a week. This is not typical of others' experiences, so the flip may work for you. There's really nothing to lose by trying it. I would suggest using whiteout to mark the flanges on each end so you can line it up again in case you don't like the flip, and make sure to torque the bolts to the proper spec as you know.

BTW, I did this at ~18,000 miles about two months ago. Oddly enough, after I flipped it back to normal, the grinding sound went away for about 3 weeks until I took the truck down some field-roads behind my house to work out the 4WD components. Also noticed that the slip yoke has verrry slight play in it.

I plan to put up with it until I can get a double-cardon driveshaft in a year or two.

Thanks for the responses. This definitely sounds like something I will be doing.

After the flip, the narrower part of the driveshaft looks like it will be more susceptible to being damaged on rocks and stuff. Did this ever concern any of you?
