I told him I was going to bring cash for the final payment. He said “Don’t do that”.

If Cash is King, then Card is Queen.
    Checks are the Joker.

Do not be the person in front of me in the grocery store that does not have their coupons in order and then think I have enough grace left inside of me to let you whip out the check-book. Things will come to a head real quick.

I guess that makes Zelle, Payze, Venmo, and Apple Pay the Ace up your sleeve. ;-)

Old people and people with disabilities can have their coupons in order and pay with card.
Young people (frequently the case) can be all over the board with coupons and then want to pay with a check. I have seen it happen.

It's not limited to age or ability and yes I do factor in some leeway for that. I'll be there soon (almost have the stamp book filled at this point).
But I still have my coupons in order and my card ready.

Mom used to use coupons (buying stuff you don't usually get, at a discount) and paid with a check, when I see that now, I know the person is afraid of technology.

    I don't even have a checkbook anymore.

I have one but probably write about 5 checks a year. Most of my bills are paid electronically, but that occasional purchase online at, say a Macy's or Penney's, requires a check to pay the bill. My mom is still old school and, man, does she get the looks in the grocery line when she whips out the checkbook. She has a debit card but doesn't feel comfortable using it.

Good morning, it's pouring rain right now but it's above freezing, 5° colder and it would have been a blizzard.

My hut is wired for a land-line, the monthly expense wasn't worth having it hooked up. A few friends still have their lines operational, the ominous 1970s wall mounted phone on a kitchen wall.

Has anyone heard from @dewayne ?

We due, every week we go grocery shopping, we crawl out of the cave, get in the oxen cart and head to town. It’s an all day affair, gotta beat the traffic :D
All this technology and uber smart people and we still believe and use the “ toilet assumption “ , probably need to Google it.

I've never written a check for groceries. I will pay cash at drivethru window 99% time now. Just because after using a drive thru i get scam charges on my card. Happened a couple times. Plus i dont like mycard being out of my sight.

Coupons are digital now at grocery stores, just punch in your phone numberor or scan their shopping card. Sometimes get some good coupons at harbor freight but you just show the phone screen.

I use cash at gas stations, it’s a good math exercise, what’s the cost of a fill up. Get your card hacked and you’ll be singing a different tune!

When I go to the gas station I never use my card at the pump . I will walk inside the store and use my card at the counter as it's safer and less of a chance for fraud
