Mechanic lost screw and bolt while changing fan clutch….

Does anybody know where I can get another one? Length and size: thank you. Can’t really see it from the picture but only three bolts were on…

If you drop the skid plate it's likely wedged between the front and rear pieces, but I would hold them accountable.

smh. Bro you’re a genius. Stressing doesn’t making think straight. Lol

 

I can’t really complain. It’s my fault. He changed out my valve cover gaskets, fuel injectors, fuel filter, changed both my diff oils, transfer case oil, new throttle position sensor, changed my oil and of course replaced my fan clutch, all oem. Charged me 300 bucks for labor. Lol

lesson learned don’t go too cheap. Lol

My 2001 was missing a fan nut.
Had to have fallen off because I never touched it. Scouts honor.

Ran it that way for many miles.

 

If mechanic did that work mentioned for $300 bucks and the only thing he screwed up was 1 bolt. I say your pretty lucky and got a great deal. Not sure what he lives on ketchup packets from 7-ll cause he sure put some time in on repairs. Reading thru posts is it just me or do people generally say less than what it really costs to do repairs. I site a plethora of recent examples. Wish i could put posts in a file to show. Are they neighbors or real shops. I do all my own repairs and sometimes I pay more for just decent parts than these people say they paid for turnkey service. Makes me giggle to hear things like " yeah got rear bearings done for $200 dollars by shop" or " just pull it out take it to shop they will press it for $20" sorry for rant have great day

I live in south Texas where I’m surrounded by Hispanics like myself. Lol. They will install you an engine for a big gulp and burritos from a murphys gas station.

I was there thru the process too wanting to learn. So I’m not sure if it wasn’t tightened properly. I had gathered the oem stuff since the beginning of the year.

didn’t look too hot from what I saw under the valve covers. The previous owner said the truck “doesn’t like” synthetic oil. Probably meant it burned oil or leaked from the valve covers… I’m about to find out. Lol. I put in penzzoil high mileage platinum and see how that goes. Maybe even clean the engine a bit with the detergents in the oil since it’s used conventional 90% of its life.

 

The previous guy used a bunch after market stuff so all those gaskets aren’t mine lol

I lived my whole life in san antonio and now lake. Go to home depot and try to get help see what it costs these days, lol

When you say it lost its screw and bolt, you must mean the nut and stud?

I'm almost sure it's M8x1.25, the "medium" size for the engine bay. If not, M10x1.25.

 

You’re a life saver brother! And yes the nut and stud are long gone. I’ll be looking for what you suggested at my local hardware store

 

Believe you need a stud bolt (threads both ends) and nut.

when i did my T belt cover gaskets
ALL my fan clutch bolts were rounded off basically non useable
took 45 mins to get them off

i went to Ace Hardware spent $2.84 and they work/fit perfectly
