Have you jumped the railroad tracks yet? That’s the real test

    Good call.
I'll see if I can find a suitable set of tracks on the way home from work.

Oh, the memories. I'm still impressed by how much abuse those old Corollas could take.

My E rated 295's feel like pillows compared to my C rated 285's. :notsure:

I think a lot of it comes down to the specific tire.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I ran D and E rated tires in 265 75 16 on my Tacoma (general grabber x3s and Kenda klever RTs) and I honestly thought the ride was decent on both. I think it depends alot on the suspension (and air pressure too off course)

So the Steel-It is already losing the battle with Wisconsin salt and I'm not happy. I really don't want to have to take the bumper off to correct this. I may get another can and just mask and spray what I can in these spots. Any suggestions?

    That sucks!

I don't have any advice. But, that looks almost as bad as my front bumper with Rustoleum spray on truck bed liner after almost 5 years. o_O

I guess my recommendation would be pretty much anything besides Steel-it. :notsure:

Nothing will last... My powder coating is stripped away. Hardon no lasty. Nothing does. I prefer the patina now and have other issues to loose sleep over. Yours being still beautiful, I understand but have nothing to offer you. Nothing lasts.

You're probably right. But, that much rust in just a few months is pathetic.

I originally wanted to do 4 coats but ended up with enough spray for 3 coats. Not sure that extra coat would have made much difference. Steel-It is stainless steel spray and it looks like the surface of it is what's rusting. :notsure:

    So. Many. Stickers.
As far as the tire thing goes, it really boils down to air pressure and rubber compound chosen. For example, Firestone and Nitto use ridiculously hard rubber which makes the tires last forever but also makes for a harder ride.

As far as rust prevention goes, the best thing I've found over the years between various paints, coatings, hard-ons and powder etc. Has been Ace hardware. And at the end of the day you still got a wire wheel and touch things up every season.

Maybe try the self etching rustoleum? Seems to be still holding up on mine. Well, except for the parts where it got scraped off.

Man, that's a real downer. I've had a good experience with that product, but I know prep and cure time are the biggest components.

It should allow for touch-up once we get into higher ambient temperatures.

Well, ice fishing is on hold for the weekend, so I got a tire rotation done since it's dry and warm out. The 5 tire rotation is much faster now that I don't have to mess with the hoist under the truck and can just spin off the handle on the rack in the bed and roll the spare out. I now feel like I accomplished something today, so I think I earned a beer or 5.

Ice fishing? It’s warm enough here I feel like I should be getting the boat out
