Looking at the Soundskin kit, it looks very expensive for what it is. I would recommend just buying the raw materials and cutting it to fit yourself. You should be able to get 2x more material for that price vs the "kit". It will be more time consuming, but the end result will also be far better. It doesn't have to look pretty to be effective. I would look at kilmat, dynamat, boom mat and dynaliner or siless. To be most effective on sound deadening, you should cover the (1) outer door skin, (2) inner door skin and (3) door liner. As an FYI, car doors are not waterproof, so if applying mat to outer skin, don't block drainage holes. Also alcohol wipe outer skin surface for best adhesion. Re-seal vapor barrier. You don't need 100% coverage on outer skin with butyl mat. Cover as much of the inner skin and doorliner with peel and stick foam padding. It shouldn't take more than 20-30mins a door. Nice thing is it can be done in stages.

This may be very educational / informative for you..
Click on the tabs, resonance reduction % & cost comparison tabs...
All the name brands listed, tested & how amp basic compares...

    https://resonixsoundsolutions.com/r...-deadening-material-independent-testing-data/

Also a recent development in regards to the ams basics ive been recommending...
My son has my calipers so after he gets up ill measure mine to verify 90mil...

Pretty sure this is the owner of resonix making the video, apparently they went from 90mil to 70mil...

    yes.....
very simple, less than a minute.
jbl side pops of in 1.5 seconds, no tools...
& just 3? bolts on passenger side & its out...
another 30 seconds to remove the felt liner...

The non jbl rears looks busy....
multipe weird strips of paneling, lots of exposed felt, etc...

I ended up sound deadening all 4 doors. What prompted me to do this was a slight rattle in the passenger front door when playing music. Plus I have the hybrid so I can hear everything lol. No more rattling and it’s really quiet now. I plan on upgrading the factory JBL speakers at some point. Overall it was easy and I recommend it. These are the only pics I have.

Is there a reason not to cover the moisture barrier?

I was limited with sound deadening that I had. Maybe when I upgrade the speakers I will

I didn't bother with my moisture barrier, but not doing the outer skins is kind of pointless......

20241227_215044.jpg 20241228_013645.jpg 20241227_233724.jpg I started doing my sound deadening on front driver door. I did the outer skin and the inner skin. However, the door panel has this white material on it. What do I so with that? Just remove it and sound deaden behind there and then reinstall it? It is getting late here. I figured I would have some opinions before I continue tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts. 1sr picyure question: Is it necessary to put sound dampening on the the cross member in the middle of the door? If yes, I can put a couple of long strips.

Yes, as you stated, quickly remove the felt, install some matting on the larger flat areas of the panels, curved areas around the speaker grill, etc...
    Dont need to go crazy,
Also, directly behind the speaker in your first door, there's a small square metal pad with the round metal brace wended to it, slap a piece of matting directly on the square metal pad...
That's an important area not to miss since its directly behind the speaker...
Use alcohol & wipe everything down before applying the matting...
Not sure how important that is since its a new truck, but we only want to do this once....

majority of the outer door skins you can install the matting in whole sheets, worse case scenario only cut them in half lengthwise....
There's plenty of room to enter through the vapor barrier area & keep the sheets large...

Ok great information. Driver door done. I went thru a lot of material. It is as good as I can do. It sounds more beefy and not like a tin can when knock on it. Updated photos

The problem I have is that even the adapters that arrived for front door are wrong. So I can't test the speakers and frankly now I am worried that it will be a botched job based on your assessment of the results may be questionable. I guess you you are thinking that Sonic beat can't have enough power for mid grade speaker like jbl club 64

    its a crap shoot....
If I remember correctly, somebody posted on YouTube asking Erik how many watts the amp was & he couldn't answer that...
Or didn't want to, which is a red flag in-itself...
He stated the specs weren't available...

    edited, now they're claiming 50 watts x 4....
at $350 you could have gotten a serious amp, not a micro toy...
I get, they're trying to accommodate the plug & play, slight improvement crowd at a premium....

my guess is will sound different / perceived as better sounds...

While I wait on adapters and speakers, I have done some sound deadening on the door panels. Very time consuming so far,and I am not done but I figured if it is worth doing, then it is work doing it right.
