My shocks ended up angled pretty far foward which I think is messing with my shock shaft amounts

Remember, when the opposite side is at full droop, the compressed side will be compressed more than if both sides are fully compressed

Installed wheel spacers and bumped out again.

I managed to raise the shock towers up .375” but the shocks are still bottoming out before the bumps engage. The bumps don’t look like they’re going to fully engage the factory spring perch either. The bump will only make about half contact.

    IMG_8609.jpg

There’s a decent amount of clearance with the 2” wheel spacers. Will likely get close when articulated though.

    Tire at full bump.

This would definitely make the motion ratio a bit higher for your setup.
What degree are your shocks forwards from very at full bump ?

Pretty interesting. I have JD towers and I’m bumping out pretty much on the frame.

The Fox 3.0 looks to be about .5” longer than the King which would help but I don’t think it would completely resolve the issue.

Are your lower shock mounts integrated into the leaf spring perch? JDs newest kit has the lower mount integrated so I cannot simply rotate.

Need to remember we both have entirely different geometry. My truck is SOFT. With H70hd’s and a light rear, I’m on the bumps when I haul my 300cu/ft argon tank.

I integrated into the perch yes. However, if you recall the shit show. My axle is 1.25” further back than how JD had it set with bolt on stuff. This also gave me more room on the shock.

DMZ is a middle ground between the H70 and the HD.

That makes more sense. I’ll be honest, I haven’t been following or on the forums for a while. I do recall you saying you went with your own SUA setup though.

I wonder if I should move the rear spring perch to the furthest setting just to get what I can

Correct. I lost wheel base with the JD kit. Moved my front hangers back and my rear hangers forward. No more shackles swinging forward of 90* and it cycles 19”.

How many of you guys plated the outside of your frames in the back section? My frame is boxed but the frame got a little beat up from removing all the stock mounting brackets

Made a little flat plate to extend the bump stop mount.

with the shocks compressed, with the bottom out bumper, I’ve got 1.4” from top of plate. The bumps I received with the kit are only 1” tall.

So I’m at the point where I need to raise the shock towers or just buy a taller bump and accept the lost travel. Leaning towards the ladder due to time/effort.

They do sell taller bumps that would absolve the issue. They just don’t list their compressed length which is kind of annoying.

@IvanhoeTaco I will rub the short comp tube when articulating.

Started mocking up some new shock towers so I can optimize travel as much as possible. Fitment good so far. For those with inner fenders, you can see how close they are for reference.

I know it’s probably not ideal. But what about swapping shafts to welded ends?
