I’ve got a second set of oem wheels I want to get a set of A/T’s for to lessen the burden on the M/T’s as this has become a regular in the rotation for the week.

swap the G003’s on when headed to the woods.

The two options in 235/85/16 of interest are the Yokohama X-AT and the Falken A/T4W.

was strongly considering a 265/75/16 but why not stick with the 235.

Will be snagging set of A/T's in the next couple of weeks.

Keep considering some 265's as these will see mostly road with some occasional dirt, we also have a lot of windy roads.

235/85/16 K02's ordered for my second set of wheels.

Those and the A/T4W were the only 3 ply A/T offerings in the size. Some of the Falken feedback has been "meh" compared to the previous generation.

I've not been a fan, at times, of previous K02's owned in the past but I just couldn't get sold on the Falken after the thread here. K03's drop later in the year but I needed something to reduce the miles I'm putting on the G003's sooner than later.

It was a sad day when goodyear went from 3ply to 2ply for the Duratracs. That said, I'm on my 3rd set of 2ply sidewall Duratracs and have never had an issue with the sidewalls.

They are not releasing a 235 or I'd of snagged those.

Love them on my 4runner, have about 3k miles on them.

Yes, I thought about the size and wondered if they had that one in the rt.. I think these rt’s will wear even better without as much mud tire cupping as traditional duratracs..

I have a set of method bead grip which are 16X8. I looked on at nomads website and the wheels you have are the same 16x8. I have been reading this thread and wanting to go with the 235’s and seeing that these wheels on here are usually on stock rims.

How was mounting those tires for you? Did you have any problems. Also, how has that set up been working out. Do you see the tire being a problem with the wheel you are using?

I was reading the comments that people do run these size tires on wider wheels. Any one on here running any method bead grips with these tires or other wheels that are larger?

The tires mounted easily and required almost no weights - one wheel took 0 added weights to balance.

Regarding how the tire has been performing on this set up I have no complaints and am not sure what kind of problems that I could encounter. 235/85R16 has been my choice size for almost 5 years and has performed well for me.

A year now running 235/85 and they have suited me well. Tow a small teardrop once a month when it's not 100 degrees out and they've done well.

I joined the adult-tire club today with five pizza cutters on matching wheels. Bring on the snow!

They haven't encountered any snow yet, but I'm looking forward to trying them out! For an E tire they ride very soft. As they wear and the sipping disappears I'm expecting them to firm up. I will get the Ideal Tire Groover out when that day comes to recut the sipping. The sipping doesn't go full knob depth to avoid too much squirmmyness.

Well, after reading every post in this thread (as well as other tire threads) I think I've made up my mind.

I'm gonna join the pizza cutter crew.

The Firestone Destinations that came on my truck might not pass inspection in May as the tread depth is getting pretty low. They've also broken loose on me a few times, even while driving like a grandpa. I know I want a more aggressive tire (really need one for the winter, I live in Massachusetts) and I occasionally drive farm roads and fire access roads - nothing too crazy by any means, but there's often sand, mud, and rocks.

Anywho, seeing all the pics here and reading everyone's testimonials on this tire size has me sold. As much as I'd love to order tires AND wheels (since my stock steelies aren't in the finest condition) it's just not in the cards at the moment.

I'm looking at the Sumitomo Encounter AT. The price is right, especially since I'll be buying five. Tread is just a hair deeper than most at 17/32", weight is listed at 45lbs ea which isn't terrible... obviously lighter would be better but I just can't shell out that kind of cash right now.

    su_encounter_at_full.jpg
    Screenshot_20250216-074202.png
    Screenshot_20250216-074120.png

I've pretty much made up my mind, but does anybody have any experience with this tire?
