I think that’s because they require special blends based on season. I’ve heard prices rise during the changeover for the refineries. I used to have to visit some platforms and a processing plant over in a hidden canyon near Santa Barbara. Not even sure if it’s still there. I need someone over there to send me some “fireplant”. It’s a roadside succulent that flowers. It’s used to suppress thrown out cigarettes and control dirt washout. I have some pictures somewhere. I sent some to my mother who promptly ignored them and let them shrivel and die…

Okay, back at eet wif the dryah…..

Changing drum rollers and idler pulley. Pulley is beat to shit rollers aren’t too too bad but figgered what the heck. Deep down I wish I had gotten a new spring and or the whole assembly which was pretty cheap. Taking this thing apart is really easy so if spring craps out I thing I’ll be ok. Took about 15 minutes to disassemble…..

Yeay! Yea, most appliances are durable except for the electronics. I had a friend who got tired of the BS and replaced his washer/dryer with a new ‘old school’ type, where everything is mechanical.

You really can’t go wrong actually. Current debating on whether I should keep/ use the original nylon washer/ spacer versus the thin metal one that came with the pulley. I’m thinking it will keep proper alignment with the belt and it looks to be in good condition

I’m with you.. as long as it isn’t brittle and doesn’t have gouges. I’d consider lubricating it or at least graphite.

I’d guess you vacuumed/cleaned the fan assembly, since you have access to it. Typically it’s not very accessible with that strong angle form the lint trap. I’ve had mostly belts and ignitor failures in the past. Only once was a valve (they fail shut).

BTW, that brand my friend buys is Speed Queen (makers for laundromats). The mechanical only washer is a TV2000. Just missing the coin drawer…

I used to use Maytag Stainless… till I found out the outer drum is still plastic. Replacing that seal is a PITA, but good for another 5 years or more.

    Purdy…

ya make me laugh about turbos… I removed the left hand nut ‘once’ the right way and snapped it off. I also took one out for cleaning and there was nothing left of it. I still have a pristine one on my parts shelf… as a reminder (as well as the ruined one… I relish in my failures).
