Looks great! I have this Rat Fink poster I was thinking about coloring in only because it’s turning yellow but not sure how that would come out. Don’t want to ruin it because it is signed by Ed Roth.

on the car news front, i went with the parents yesterday to go car shopping. they had a few picked out, just a matter of comparing the data and condition of them.

ended up putting some money down on a 2017 equinox for next weekend.. they were looking at the '17 and a '19. major difference is '18 was the equinox's 3rd gen update, and the '17 was the last year for naturally aspirated engines. from '18-up, every motor is turbocharged. which isn't great for my mom making lots of local runs. i just plain don't like larger vehicles with smaller motors running turbo's to make up the difference. too many stresses, and then add in her frequent short start/stop trips, it's just asking for issues...

so far, the issues(and the reason it was a down payment, not outright purchase) are that the a/c doesn't work at all, and the tire monitor came on during the test drive, but it's just an idiot light and doesn't provide any details of which tire, or if it's a pressure or sensor issue. i was kicking myself for not taking a code reader with, though i don't know that mine does tpms...

so assuming the dealer works out the tpms and a/c issues, i'll get my truck back next saturday! which will be nice, i don't imagine i'm making many friends on my 5am work commute. but it's also the most awake i've been when i show up for work...

i've never looked into rat fink too much, i came into the car scene at the wrong time..

but that picture made me curious if ed roth was anti-union or something, considering the unions use of rats for non-union workers.

turns out rat fink is supposed to be the anti-hero to mickey mouse.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_Fink

also, i knew ed roth as an artist, but had little idea of the violent biker background

"Roth had taken black and white photos of different bikers. He made posters, with titles like "Beautiful Buzzard", or "Gray Cat" out of these photos, and sold them at car shows. Roth would periodically give these bikers small amounts of money, but soon some of the bikers started to feel that Roth was "getting rich" off of them and they wanted a larger cut. Despite Roth's agreement, rumors began to circulate that a certain club intended to attack Roth's shop. The gang arrived at the shop with guns drawn, but Roth's crew defended themselves. Roth challenged the head biker to a one-on-one fist fight to settle matters in the middle of the shop. Eventually Roth gained the upper hand and "just started to beat the living crap out of the guy"."

Biggest thing with those EcoTech's is keeping the oil in check and changed! Otherwise, good little engines. People like the crap on them, but they're good if you keep em' up!

Please don’t touch it. Worked at a Museum & knew lots of very talented people. That yellow is perfectly normal. The rare book room there was breathtaking. Consult a professional who’s in your area. Lots depends on temp & humidity

I don’t have it in me to do it. So it will stay as is. I met him at a car show many years ago. Took his picture painting a picture my friend brought. When my friend had passed I asked his family about this picture that was hanging in his garage. No one seemed to know what happened to it.

We had an '08 Equinox with the 3400 V6 and that thing loved oil as well.

We had it when we moved from Mississippi back to Pennsylvania. It burned a quart of oil and probably 2-3 quarts of coolant. o_O

    I think you are confused.

Non Union workers working in place of Union workers during a strike are called "scabs", not "rats".

    Damn...

So much for modern engines running "cleaner". ;);)

With 192,000 miles the old 97 Subaru didn't use any oil between changes. :notsure:
