definitely not confused. as a former non-union electrician for 12 years, i've had my share of union run-ins. they called us some combination of rats and scabs. ironic, they won't let me into their 'club' unless i sign up for classes that may or may not take place in the next 6 years maybe if i 'know someone'(wink wink), but i'm always the one 'stealing work' from them...

maybe it's just a local thing, but in the midwest, if any union is on strike or protesting non-union companies winning a bid they feel should have gone to the local union shops, they "raise the rat" in front of the job. a relative once passed along some of the newsletters they had... those read like north korean propaganda mixed with al capone...

image pulled from this article, which is also about chicago and 'scabby the rat' gaining the right to free speech. i'm on the indiana side, but still close enough to be about 100 miles within 'the border of chicago'.

The fact that it's mostly fat or the fact that the bacon has a nipple?

    Morning folks :pccoffee:

Gotta grab some quarter round and start priming the trim in the master bedroom. Getting rid of that old wooden look @RustyGreen loves so much

Got to use oil base primer so that aught to be fun with little ventilation :goingcrazy:

    Sometimes old is cool. :notsure:

... and sometimes it is just old.

Mrs Green likes HG TV with all the home rehab programs, we both :facepalm: when someone pays $750K for a house and say "this is so dated, it all has to go". They rip out kitchens I would be delighted to have.

42 degrees here already, painting might not be too bad.

I initially liked the old unpainted shellac'd trim, but as time goes on I keep looking at it and it's just old and tattered. Not to mention outdated. Even on my appraisal it says "and appears to have an outdated look"

    :pout:

Upped my homeowners insurance the other week to account for some things. They valued the home at $316K (when I bought it for 200) and I was like no friggin' way. Then I went down a rabbit hole and looked at comps. By George they're pretty much spot on o_O

It's even more market appealing in the area now. In town they raised the water/sewer quarterly rates and a lot of people are paying $400-$500 a quarter. Where me it's $220 to have my septic pumped every year and a half or so. People are moving out of town to be done with that mess.

I don't think the value of this place has increased substantially in the last 3 decades. :anonymous:
