Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
    Good question, its cast so I assume aluminum, but I didn't try a magnet came out when I was trying to get the timing chain lined back up after letting a little too much slack fall down. I assume it's off a bank two sprocket

    Doesn't really look like a tooth to me, they have square flat edges. Anything missing from the big chain sliders?

    Dunno how I missed this the first time, but it appears piston #6 has had better days. Looks like a small crack and a little contact with the counter weight, enough to prevent the full rotation of the crank... So the driver side head is coming off now.

    My new truck has the V6 so no swap, but go through it and resale. I bought lots of shiny tools the last time, no use in letting them sit.

    There's actually an extended cab with powertrain yanked and left, front fender damaged for sale for like $1500 (EVERYTHING else intact). I'm thinking could put this in it, I've got a 4x4 trans sitting for a auto swap I never did. $2500 in I could make a penny.

    I’d be curious if the old single vvti head would fit on the newer short block. I think I checked in the past and the short blocks are different part #s

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    The short blocks could be different though if they changed compression ratio. That would usually necessitate different pistons. But id almost bet the casting of the block is the same

    That’s a great point. They did up the compression from 9.6:1 to 10.2:1 for the dual vvti, so maybe that’s why there are different part numbers. If the block is the same this would be a great option for a core to build. The dual vvti ones seem to be easier to find and cheaper than the older versions in the junk yards.

    I was under the impression the blocks were the same, a "too late now" thought was put the head on my outgoing truck to get the dual VVTI. The guy already dropped the price to $150, holding out for $100 haha
