Hey guys, I’m looking to cut off the 2nd cats after the o2 sensors. My question is will my o2 sensors work properly if the exhaust exit is right after them?

And not adding a pipe to go to the rest of the exhaust?

RIP to your ears, the neighbors peace and any sanity on a roadtrip

If driven on the street you might want to check into noise ordinances laws in your area, cause that will almost be like running open headers... Maybe even if driving where wild life is...

You might also get exhaust fumes in the cab, so be careful of that also...

But to answer your question, I have read that 8" min of pipe behind the o2 sensor, but 18"-24" is best... (no hard data on that, so..)

Ok I retained the rear exhaust. I essentially just count out the 2nd cars on either side and filled the area with some exhaust pipe.

If there are no more o2 sensors behind them, they they really serve no purpose.

That being said, my URD y-pipe doesn't have them

Motorcycles get more power without mufflers, but does nothing here.

Maybe to sell the precious metals in the catalytic converters?

As a former avid dirt bike rider, I know the value of not annoying land owners with a loud ass machine spitting fire and burning the forest down. This might not be a big issue in desert where I think the OP is using his truck.

I was looking at a URD Cat-Back before I got a MillerCat shield.

"Fire level alert" is pegged come summer in the desert and you cannot have open fires while camping. Any city/county park that can do it will forbid firing guns during high heat. There are un-controlled desert spaces that become impromptu firing ranges and the "locale" does not allow that restriction on shooting.

The stock y pipe has the cats built in, but hangs below the cross member. By removing the cats and rerouting the hanging pipe, you gain more ground clearance.

not everything is meant to stay stock

You are assuming he left the muffler on, but I am not.

Yes, this owner's truck is for off-road use only and is a trailer queen. He jumps and now has a welded rear end.
