I’m going to do the timing belt and water pump and curious if it is worth the effort to remove and replace the cam and crank shaft seals? Not sure I’ve ever seen anyone mention these leaking making me think it’s pretty rare. Anyone experienced these leaks before?

    IMO
It’s a “while you’re in there” type of thing

    getting seals out
    Few ways
-crappy seal pick/screw driver(risk dmg to cam and cam carrier while prying)
    -seal puller and press
Kinda expensive but the best/easiest way to remove and install. I wish this specialized tool was available when I was struggling with multiple seal replacements bc of oil seepage leak

    What I did with success
-drill small hole in seal….i used a R angle drill to clear confined space
Then put in gently a small wood screw in the drilled hole on the seal
Use a angled needle nosed pliers to pry the seal out by clamping on the screw you just put in seal

The circled seals were removed by wood screw way
That mutiliated seals on bottom Left were done by mechanic (that gouged my cams so bad I had to RR them bc of oil leaks

I'm on my 2nd water pump (replaced an aftermarket). I've got over 374 miles on mine and about a month ago, I did exactly what you described plus I got a new fan bracket, replaced all belts, cam seals, but the water pump was fine. Like @ControlCar stated, take the 'while you've got it all taken apart' approach and tackle it.
