Ah okay the rear FROR cross member would explain why it doesn't hit your cab at all. If I had a hole that tight around the shifter like on your rear case, it would hit just pulling out of the driveway.

So your current setup is just motor mounts and the FROR to support the rear of the assembly?

yep, gone through 4 years of wheeling like that. Until I get off my lazy ass to built a center support. Maybe in Jan when I tied the rear towers together, add the front sway bar, and install the air bump, I’ll designed something for it and get it plasma cut.

    I’m on it.
There are a bunch of Toyota specific options they offer, so I am getting an idea of what I need.
I’m wondering if anyone has fitted one to a 2nd gen manual, and has any pointers or advice. Things like support brackets and shifting linkage (will a bench seat be compatible?)
I am studying this thread for clues, but there are so many variations it’s hard to know what applies to me.
Also a bit of chaff to sift thru to get to the kernels ;)
Anyhoo, I’m excited to burrow deep down into this rabbit hole.

There may be others, but the only atlas install I have seen on this forum is an '04 auto 4 runner. Might find some helpful info in his build thread. Just more to sift through.

Atlas is nice, especially with front dig but if you have no intention of a SA in the future, I say the eco or rf1a will do just fine. It's definitely on the cheaper side vs an atlas.

Why didn't you go atlas? Your setup probably cost more than an atlas IMO,

Many different reasons why I didn't go atlas, users may have different view. Cost wise, yes, I could have purchased a 4-speed atlas but I wanted to go slower. On top of that, if I went with 609 axles, Atlas would be the answer, but I wanted to keep everything Toyota. Figure if the axles are Toyota, I might as well mate it with the AA HD RF1A cases and MC gears/adapters

I am considering a weird axle combo 10.5/60 front & 10.5 rear for the future along with a 2uz or ls3 and 44s so it may still change. Who know.......

10.5 as in 07+ tundra 10.5 with 36 splines shaft? God damn. Aren’t you running 9.5 front and rear? Why not run SD wonton? I’ll buy your axles if you give me a TW discount? :rofl:Or I’ll trade a kidney plus more for them

    Yea, tundra 10.5

Currently axles are 70wms Diamond land cruiser 9.5 front and rear. Highly doubt they'll give me issue even if I go up to 42s because I don't have a heavy foot. I want 75wms if I go 10.5/60 and SD are just under 70 IIRC and I'm no fan of adding wheel spacers to gain width. Nothing against spacers, just not for me. But at 75, I think the popo import truck hater will probably pull me over. Currently, about 10"+ of tire is beyond the fender per side and when I drive by a cop, I'm like, don't look at me.

I got a good chunk of money into both axles. I can probably tally everything up for an accurate price, but I would venture to say the ballpark would be around 13-15k, pre-covid price. Nowadays, for a custom rolling axle, it's probably around 10k each. My buddy upgraded to a set of Currie 70s with all the brackets and it cost him almost 23k

$23k is hard to acknowledge. My 04 SA DC on leaf will probably sell for that much only and he paid 23 for a pair of axles. God damn. My pocket is not heavy nor that deep. The waggy44 will work for now cause I’m a cheap bastard.

Just looked at TG RA complete front axle, cost about $8k. Damn. I recall when they were $5k in 2015ish and thought they were overpriced for an ugly designed. I could imagine Diamond or RuffStuff costing upwards of 10.

yep. crazy how people can afford them. I want a different axle but not with the new price tag. $20k for a set of axle is absurd
