What a beautiful sunrise and way to end 2024.

Came out to the shop early this morning and built a fire, kept peeking out the back window and saw two deer. Grabbed Cole’s muzzle loader and pinched.

I found this little bit of hair, that was it.

Luckily it’s been raining and I was able to follow the trail in the wet leaves. She went maybe 75 yards towards the blind.

The only blood I found was on my nose, first time I’ve ever scoped myself. Not even sure how I did it that low, may not have been the scope.

A Big Thanks to all of you that posted pics for those of us unable to hunt anymore. I really enjoyed seeing all the success stories, especially the newer younger hunters. Looking forward to next year.

My buddy let me bring Sadie back to his place yesterday to hunt, only thing he ask was don't shoot anything with horns. Turned out to be one of the best hunts I've ever been on and didn't even shoot. I told him after the hunt it was a true test of our friendship. The 6 pt we saw last time came out first, he broke one side off. It was about an inch long, jagged, sticking up.

    upload_2025-1-2_7-44-23.jpg

Then............one of the heaviest 8 pt's I've ever seen came out, the pictures don't do him justice. He had mass and carried it all the way out to his tips.

It was so hard for a 9 year old girl and her dad to watch him for 45 minutes and not be able for her to pinch. He was 40 yards at one point.

We saw a lot of deer and it was so weird, we saw 2 big does but they were the last ones out right at dark and got mixed in with the rest and we couldn't tell which was which so we didn't shoot anything. I know there were at least 4 button heads in the group is the main reason I didn't let her shoot. We're going back Saturday, last day of season.

This was 1 minute after legal shooting light, I don't even know how many deer we saw. It was at least 11. Half of these had visible horns.
