My days of New Years Eve partying are decades past. Some crazy times and memories. Now a days we order Chinese food, have a glass of wine and watch movies. Haven’t decided on the movie yet but I’m leaning toward the latest (and last) Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny. I’ll see what the little woman wants to watch. Anyway all have a happy and safe New Years.

One of the best under rated movies I've seen was Moneyball. I was fascinating how baseball (and I don't watch sports) teams are chosen and how a different way of thinking turned things on their ear.

Speaking of which... we went to Papa Murphy's to pick up a pizza and the power in town was out. The lobby was full of people milling around, all waiting to order because the electrical machinery was not working including the credit card machine. So I'm standing there looking at all the people waiting and the employees standing there with their hands in their pockets... and I ask, "Hey, if I just pay cash can you make me a pizza?" And everyone got a funny look on their face and suddenly everyone was saying, "Oh, I could pay cash." And the employee in charge says he has to make a phone call to ask if he can do it. So he goes in this little room with the Employees Only sign on the door and then comes out and says they can do cash. Apparently they have been instructed to round off to the nearest dollar so they don't need to figure tax. We all get our pizza, the tip jar gets a boost, and the pizza is in the oven as I write this. No one had thought about using cash because we have come to see credit cards as necessary.

Good morning and Happy 2025! About to pour the best cup of coffee this year.
We're going to a friend's for brunch with about 8 or 10 others, maybe more. Always fun and a great way to start the year. Fellowship and food!

Have a great day, alla y'all.

    2025!!

This time the CO detector near the kitchen woke me. Yay!!

I got the new pneumonia 21 shot yesterday. They said it would hurt. They didn't lie to me! Holy OUCH still tender.

Today 6:30AM pickleball, rest, then some traditional Japanese New Year foods. Rose Bowl at 2PM.

My day will be about the same, minus the pickle ball, but heavy on the traditional Japanese New Year food. Cheers

:fingerscrossed: HAPPY 2025 Porch Pals & Sue!

Watched the ball in NYC, and went to bed. Wifey and pup watching a movie. Idiots with fireworks are pretty muted in the living room. Pup stayed chill all night .

Christmas cactus was just a week late!

    Happy New Year.

I had Grand Marnier left, so I did a small shot to toast in my wife's memory.

I was late, so I got into a Norwegian crime drama, Freezing Embrace, on MHz Choice. Good show, but I am sucked in (which I enjoy).

I got to bed at 1:00 AM and was up and ready to go at 7:00 AM. HEB (the local grocery store) has normal hours. I stopped by yesterday, but the parking lot was full, so I skipped shopping and polished off some Butternut Squash soup for dinner. It was very empty at 7:00 AM, so it was easy to get my shopping done. I stock up on Amy's soups and some Flann (why the heck is it so expensive? I need to make my own).

I went to donate $200 to Pam's favorite dog rescue. Entering the donation, my Golden bumped my elbow, and I realized I had typed in $2000. This is an end-of-year donation. I'm still working, but it goes for the dogs. Done. Pam always donated, I grumbled, and she would tease me about taking a crowbar to my wallet. Oh, no salaries are paid. 100% of the funds go to the dog's medical bills.

Well today I set up my hearing aids and I'm wearing them for the first time, wow! I'm hearing things I haven't heard in years. It's going to take some time to get used to them and to fine tune the settings but wow.

That's great news!!! I remember getting my first pair of glasses and seeing individual leaves on trees and being able to read billboards when I had no idea they had words on them... when I was eight.

Please tell us, again, what unit you are using and where you bought it.

I agree Anthony. The hotel we stop at is about 5 hours away and that leaves us a 3 and a half hour drive into Detroit. What is nice is we can leave around 11 am and still get to the hotel in daylight.

    Welcome

You did the right thing with getting rid of the wirenuts and making a small patch panel. Cat 5E will support up to 1Gig speed.

Good afternoon. Had a great time visiting the family in Michigan. My SIL was a great hostess for my family. We usually cover the family restaurant bill, and I am so grateful that we are blessed enough to cover the bill. Dinner with the family is priceless. Found a new high-end steakhouse in Clarkston MI that was over the top with delicious offerings. We returned home at 2pm yesterday and had dinner and board games at my sister's home. Fun evening and we were home early. Took a little time to read through the 5 pages in the thread but it was worth the time.

    Happy New Year to all.
