I'd like install blk overfenders on my G2 (same as on my G1).
For OEM overfenders, is the install pretty straight forward- do they install over the existing flare as the name implies, or, do they replace them?

Sorry in advance for the elementary nature of the question.

Lol I've never seen it said like that before so I wanted to clarify based on how unclear the original post was.

From what I've seen the OEM fender flares go into square holes stamped into the fenders and it would probably would be easier (if you don't have factory flares) and maybe even cheaper to go with after market fender flares (depending on the price of OEM vs after market). I also think the after market fender flares would look better than the OEM ones too imo.

on your TRD you already have the flares, so you would need to either paint/resurface the ones you have or get new black ones. the take off/on is pretty straightforward, just be careful b/c the clips that connect the flare to the body are very weak and break easily.

not having the flares from the factory iw harder b/c you would have to add the holes to the body in order for them to fit.

Yep, I meant if the truck did not come with the factory fender flares with the square holes already stamped it would probably be easier to with after market flares than OEM.

Thx. I have factory flares, so you've answered the question- the black plastic ones like these shown replace them.

FWIW- I did a search before posting and found overfenders is what Toyota calls them. And G2 and G1 are frequently used terms on places like the Apple forums to distinguish between say, 1st and 2nd Gen iPads. Thought it might translate here <shrug>.

    No worries.

Has anyone painted their FFs, er, factory flares ; ) with something like bedliner paint?
Mine are chipped and only likely to get worse.

Having said that, the downside might be resale. Might be better to get the plastic ones as planned and hold the originals in reserve.

Do you have the black, non-painted flares? I wasn't sure if the picture of the tacoma was yours or not.

Scroll to the bottom of this page, the truck pictured has herculined fender flares.

his TRD comes w/ color patches flares.

OP, people have used bedliner, a krylon fusion paint, and now the plasti-dip craze. you can buy aftermarket Bushwacker flares that are larger and way overpriced.

And way ugly with the faux screws. I'll look around for the blk OEM flares.
    Thanks for the guidance.
