My idle is low ever since I installed the PS kit. Can't figure out why.

Other than that it's been great.

You'll need to ground the pressure switch thats no longer in use. That should bump idle RPM

And on that note, anything else I should do “while I’m in there” doing the PS pump?

You’re not wrong… but also don’t quite have the time for that.

I’d like to cage the whole truck lol.

only down side is the confusing instructions that came with the kit. Heard this from others as well. Maybe different for 2nd gens. Other than that been butter for me just like driving my wife’s plug in hybrid rav 4.

Yea was thinking about it, I’m close enough to JD. When the time comes I might just have them do the install. Still trying to figure out what I should do about the rack and inner tie rods. Leave current, new stock with nylon bushings or tundra rack.

Is your stock rack leaking at the inners yet? My inner boots have some visible oil leaking stains, but nothing has ever dripped or leaked out of the boots. Reservoir has never needed topped with fluid. After a PS fluid flush with new OEM fluid (was running parts store stuff before) the leaks seem to have stopped. I have a new OEM rack here, JD bushings, JD steering kit, and I will probably do the Apex tie rods (currently just have stock tie rods with war fab sleeves).

When you say JD steering kit are you referring to the Howe steering kit? If so use the Swepco fluid for race applications recommended by Howe or Delco 10-5073 for non-race. The Delco is available on Amazon for about half as much as the Swepco.

Same here. Mine was just on the boots but has never needed to be topped off. The truck has around 110k miles on it now. About half highway and half offroad use. Have a company truck so it sits most of the time. With the mileage I’m just seeing it as why replace half now and half later when I can just check different options to do it all in one shot. I know for sure I won’t be doing no 74weld rack.

Anyone have experience with the allpro Lancruiser rack? Don’t know if that’s a options with the JD 2.25 kit or haven’t heard/seen to much about them… curious

I’m no expert, but Ive read it doesn’t offer any advantage over doing a tundra rack swap. And seeing as the support for the tundra swap is more established, I don’t see why that wouldn’t be the better option. I like the JD slide rack or tundra rack options personally. Anything more is going to be way more cost and fabrication invasive. And in the end it boils down to if performance beyond that is needed. For desert or race applications, sure, anything to prevent breakages makes sense. For the average user, probably not. But that’s just from my reading.

JD slide rack won't work on a 3rd gen per what Jesse told me. I believe the oil filter housing won't allow it.

Oh yeah. Forgot you guys have the cartridge filters down low. Sometimes I wish my truck had the updated looks (and interior) of the 3rd gen, but I like my drivetrain much better. Plus Toyota did a nice thing and put the oil filter sky high in the engine bay. Super convenient and out of the way.

Yeah, 3rd Gen here. I had read somewhere that the turn radius is a little less with the tundra rack but haven’t seen to many people complain about it. I know @lit_taco4x4 has the tundra rack on his and ran into a little clearance issues with the 934’s,(im also running 934’s) But is overall happy with the rack. Also a forum member actually sales them on here for a decent price compared to others. So just weighing out options.

That is probably the only thing i don't like on my 3rd gen oil filter placement is terrible. I would love the 2nd gen twist on up top for sure!

What’s funny is my first car was a 92 pickup with the 22RE, and then I jumped to my first second gen 06 to find out they use the exact same oil filter. That was a laugh.
