Or...hear me out, just buy/build more RCs :burp:

My GX is getting axles and wheels

The LC just got stripped of its lights

And I'm planning a new build for comp

What class rules are you following? I plan on building a comp crawler as well.

On another note I repainted my body again to a metallic bronze and put on some rock lights

    20250101_160150.jpg

Interestingly enough, I plugged in these 56mm tires in a scale converter and they come out as a 39.7" tire in a 1/18 scale. Wanted bigger tires but don't want it to be too unrealistic

    I don't know what I don't know :notsure:

I do know I can look up "rules" and classifications, and by ignoring them right now I know I'm not doing myself a favor

The goal here is to build a "comp" style rig, test it out, and learn how I can be better both as an operator, and how I can improve my vehicle on their course

They allow people to just walk in and try the course out so by doing that, there'd be no limitations as to how my vehicle is setup

After a long day of having family over, I'm ready to retire to the computer and do a little more digging before I purchase the Mazz LCG XL chassis

    @Strictlytoyz

Do you know what class you will want to compete in? And at what scale?

How far have you dug into things as far as a build goes (parts, etc)?

No, not currently. Haven't looked to far into it besides seeing if there's any local comps which there isn't so I'll have to travel. It'd most likely be 1/18 or 1/24. Easier to transport. Parts are cheaper.....

Curious to hear about your build once you start piecing it together.

I'm going 1/24 mainly due to size (not just easier transport) because small obstacles literally become a challenge for such a small rig.

I'm sure parts are cheaper than say, 1/10 scale but they still get pricey

Looking at $130 for an esc and/or motor, $80-100 for a chassis, $90 for axles, $30-50 for wheels, whatever it costs for tires, battery, transmitter, transmission, links, shocks...it'll be about $500-800?

I'll definitely be posting in here as I move on with my build. Curious to see what route/parts you go with as well. That Mazz chassis looks very good. It's cheaper, but can quickly add up to a hefty price tag that's for sure! I also agree that it's a lot easier to have anything be an obstacle for a 1/18 and 1/24 truck.

The Meus is much cheaper at about half the price.

But Mazz has really nice links (with great offsets) paired with a skid plate that is set up in a way to allow full articulation of their link setup. There is way more thought put into their setup than others I've looked into.

Another was Killr, but I saw it only available as a 1/18 and it's $200 just for the chassis

I was for the mazz but I should have built from scratch instead of disassemble a scx24 and reassemble an all new rig. The mazz chassis alone was more than the deadbolt was.

So, I'm building from scratch (no disassembly from anything).

Are you saying that's what you wish you did?

How fixed up is the Deadbolt?

Yeah I wish I had built from scratch

Deadbolt has stock driveshafts, chassis, motor and esc..... Everything else is changed and I have a new receiver waiting to swap with a new motor and esc when they go out.

Seen those, but the Mazz has more room for adjusting?

Not sure, anyway I just ordered the Mazz Designs V3 XL chassis :anonymous:

Also just ordered some LGRP tires and metal drive shafts from Injora

So many parts in delivery limbo...
Love the SpeedPak tracking, estimated arrival between Jan. 8-22.
Ordering during the holidays really puts a crimp in things.

    Same

Don't expect my Meus axles for another 2 weeks, same with my Injora axles

The chassis could be a week?

Tires and driveshaft arrive in a few days

And I'll be heading to the hobby store today to see if I can find a motor/esc and body for the new build before deciding to order it online

As excited as I am for this comp build, I took a single tip from those builds and angled my shocks on the FCX18.

I'm getting a bit more uptravel that I lost with the really long shocks, which gave me a bit more control. Not to mention it lowered my ride height a hair.

Also ripped off the roof rack and lights.

With the shocks pointing straight down, I'd topple my rig over trying to climb this. Now it goes over it every time. It's only for test purposes obviously.

Ordered these 3 weeks ago, they got delayed in customs over Christmas, then they went missing. I figured they were lost forever.
Brass rear wheel weight and front brass steering knuckles. I was able to stave off RC wrenching withdrawal.

She's a contender now. The only other mod in the back of my head is to axle mount the servo.
It would be a performance mod, but kill the look.
And oil filled shocks. That would be nice if they existed or could be cobbled together from parts. It's the little pivot ball at the bottom that's the problem.
