I need a bigger truck for work. Looking at a 2018-2020 Tundra.

 

can you run this kit with the factory air intake box? also how would one get their truck tuned after the install

 

The factory air intake box is removed and replaced with the ProCharger intake box and external filter. This is a simple, 100% reverseable, bolt on instalation. I had the ProCharger installed by one of their recommended installers in my local area and they called ProCharger for the tune.

The way I understand it is that the tuner that comes with this kit is used to download your existing ECU file which you then you email to ProCharger and they email you a new file back that you upload into your ECU via the ODB port. But you may want to call ProCharger, they’ll explain everything to you over the phone.

My apologies but I had, then removed a Magnuson setup on a 2TR to LS swap.
Now the same company installing the Magnuson on an 05 2TR I purchased. They are installing head studs along with the Magnuson kit on the 05.
The reason I am apologizing is we had a tuner that “tried” to tune the system on the stock ECU and there’s no way to achieve a proper tune on the stock ECU! I remember something about not enough capacity. We had to install Heltech Elite 1500 w/ a Boomslang wiring harness. The stock 27k mile primary cat after less than a 1k miles.It’s from bad tuning…
Absolutely not trying to start anything with anyone just saying be careful adding boost without proper tuning! It’s your engine and your life do as you please…

 

No Worries, I am not smart enough on tuning to understand your post, but it sounds like you have done an engine swap? I simply let the business who I paid to install the system work with ProCharger on the tune.

 

Yes I think it’s a great deal I’m trying to say get the proper tuning‼️
Again, Not trying to dis the supercharger whatsoever! As it’s far superior to the POS supercharger another vendor uses on their kit! The Rotrex supercharger will SELF-DESTRUCT ask me how I know! I’ve owned one.
So what I’m saying is please get the proper tuning as it will save your engine and really help the performance!
The Heltech really upped the performance and drive ability! Here’s a picture of the POS system installed in one of my trucks. I had two supercharger systems and an LS Swap. The LS Swap is the hardest by far! The engine fitment is a piece of cake it’s the wiring that’s the hardest part and most crucial! That’s why my LS swap has been in a shop for over 6 months getting rewired! I didn’t want a Carbecue‼️ I’m old and my bucket list has been an LS swap. Please don’t ask what it has cost me because I stopped keeping track when it got close to getting a new Taco. It’s just something I’ve always wanted.

 

Sorry to hear you’ve had so much trouble with your super chargers. The good news is that the stock ProCharger tune for the Tacoma is tried and true. My installer did have me go to Toyota to confirm I had the latest ECM update installed on my Tacoma before I dropped it off to have them install the super charger. I can confidently state that I had no issues with the stock tune and it ran fine on 91 or higher octane. People can get exotic with trying to get the most power out of a super charger, regardless of brand, and have a negative experience. I tend to stay on the safe side and keep things as they were intended, simple and reliable.
