I was coming back from camping and towing my small camper. After exiting the freeway, and sitting at the light at the end of the ramp, I turned left. While turning at about 10-15 mph, the low tire pressure warning light came on, flashed, then went off. I pulled over and checked, and all tires were inflated properly. The light has not done this before, or has come on since. A failing TPMS sensor? I haven't been able to find anything in search that lines up with what I had happen. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

If you still have the factory sensors you may have a bad one. They typically last 7-10 years but I've seen some last as long as 14 years.

I'd drive it and see if it repeats. With something like this you just have to wait until it gets worse. At that age I'd replace the sensors the next time I buy tires. I've bought several sets off of Amazon, cost ranges between $50-$60 for a set of 4. Tire stores will install and program them for you at no cost if you're buying tires. If not buying tires $10-$15 each to install them.

I once had on destroy itself in the wheel. Don't ask how. I had the TPMS light come on so I pulled into the first fuel station I came to and checked all four wheels and they were all okay. When I got home from the trip I took the truck to Discount Tire and they found a sensor in two pieces.

You can also try to reset the TPMS as per your owners manual. If that fails probably just going to be a straight up replacement of the sensors.:fingerscrossed:

Have you checked the pressure of your spare?

From what I've read on here, sometime around 2009-2011 Toyota stopped putting them in the spare. My 11 did not have one. Though it mighta helped since my truck's spare came flat from the factory, lol.

i just ignore the light. It flashes at me every time I start my truck. After a few blocks it stops flashing and is solid on.

Intermittent TPMS lights are a common indication of a failing sensor, especially flashing. If your 2015 still has its original sensors you’ve done better than I. My 2015’s original TPMS sensors starting failing about two years ago. (My RX350’s original sensors lasted over a dozen years.)

I just replaced my 2015 TPMS, they went dead last year. The 2015 has only 4 sensors.

I feel lucky, I had to replace my sensors at about 14 years ~130K.

i bought a 5 pack of the oem's for $52 and change, $57, and change with shipping, from ebay, thinking that my spare was also needed, and when getting my new tires last week, they handed me one back, saying that it wasn't, which left me confused, as i swore that topping off my spare when teh others were at, or near, where they should be, in the past turned my light back off more than once.

...I will say this, if anyone else goes this route, give it a few weeks before you actually need them, as the once proud USPS has become a bungling, unreliable outfit over the last several years or so. ...mune were stuck in rossford (?) Ohio for over a week, and them over shipped past me, had to go back to another hub before me, to then be delivered to my local for delivery. ...after a little research, I found out that this is not an isolated incident....

Yeah, I figured that coming up on 10 years old, the sensors might be failing. I only have 109k on the truck though, I was hoping they would live a little longer than that, but I guess they're always sending a pressure signal even when the truck is off? I don't know.... anyway, I appreciate the input from you all. Thanks!

I have an early '09 and apparently at least one of mine is failing as my light has been on for a few months.

My spare doesn't have the TPMS.

But 16.5 years and 190k+ miles is pretty good for the OE sensors...
