    Afternoon all:

Looks like I might be the only one whose never been to a concert, BUT I do love the sound of open headers, that's music to my ears!:)

No hunting till Sat. when my buddy's grandson is with us, something went haywire with my buddy's somewhat good right shoulder. When he was putting gear on the other day he had pain shooting down his arm from his shoulder every time he had to lift his arm, and he was vocal with a "uhh" from the pain he was experiencing. That's the first time I ever heard him react to pain so it must have really hurt! :(

My first concert was Guy Lombardo at the Jones Beach amphitheater...Moon light serenade was the hit for the show ...Am I dating myself :D.
It was free and I couldn't bitch. Life was simple back then.

Join the hearing aid crowd. been wearing them for 9 years now and the good thing is I can turn them off if the missus starts giving me some sass :D

Yup, there is some of that in my Tinnitus also. I raced air-cooled VWs for 18 years. Nothing like setting timing and tuning a carb with the end of the header about a foot from your head! Kinda like this:

My hearing has diminished due to gunshot and rock n roll. My first concert was Paul Revere and the Raiders 1965 at the San Jose auditorium. From there I attended untold number of concerts. The Bay Area was the music center of the universe it seemed. Went to the Fillmore West dozens of times where I saw such groups as Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Santana, Creedence Clear Water, Greatful Dead and on and on. Even attended Altamont where the Hells Angles were hired as security and killed some guy. Last concert I attended was Jimmy Buffet Sacramento a few years ago. Oh and a couple years ago saw Three Dog Night up in Tahoe. Now I just attend small venues and Tribute groups.
I have one hearing aid (left ear, doc thinks that is from rifle and shotgun fire) , other ear don’t yet need one. No tinnitus thankfully.

Remember, kids, practice safe hex—old computers for recycling. Platters make a great mirror, and holes are handy for sighting. Sadly, Parkinson's makes sending Morse code difficult. - --- --

Do they still have a scout badge for mirror/morse (handly across a canyon)? Maybe I need to find my old key.

@Sprig and the rest...some great shows you attended. My first was Fleetwood Mac when the Rumours LP came out...my last was like Sprig, Jimmy Buffett. I was in Key West at a Meeting Of The Minds event (his fan clubs from around the world meet there every November). He and the Coral Reefer Band played on Duval street. No charge.

Not my video but this was the show...one of my fave Buffett tunes.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/what did you say? I've got you all beat; I drove loud cars, played in a rock band, attended concerts, PLUS I had a childhood filled with ear infections and the attendant damage they did. I've been wearing hearing aids since I was in my 30's.

Concerts, I have seen a few. But first an update on the lovely Carol. We are getting a better handle on what she has and what it means, and we saw her PCP today who had clearly made an effort to come up to speed on her rare malady. A good man, I wish times were different because I know he would have helped us during our worst time of need in the early stages of this. But health care in America is what it is, and he and I were both trapped in it. She managed to catch a cold amidst all the other stuff going on, not surprising when one considers the physical strain on her recently + hospital (petri dish) + steroids which beat up on the immune system. This is a woman who has had, maybe, three colds in the 40 years I have known her. Typical of her, even in her current state, this cold doesn't have a chance of making it past 7 days. Progress.

Concerts! I can't honestly tell you which one was first, but it was probably Chicago at a nearby college fieldhouse right after they released their first album. Back in those days I saw Cream, Sly & the Family Stone, Led Zeppelin, the Moodies, Zappa, Crosby/Stills/Nash, and many many others. I saw the Who do 'Tommy'. I saw The Doors. Hendrix. He was astounding. He had a guy at the edge of the stage, stringing guitars; when Jimi would break a string, which was pretty often given his antics, he'd wail a big chord, let the feedback roll, unplug, unstrap, and toss the guitar through the air towards that guy. The stage guy would simultaneously toss one back at him and the guitars would pass one another in midair. Jimi would catch it, strap it on, plug it in, and pick up right where that big chord let off. What a show that was.

All of that said, the very best concert I ever attended was just a few years ago. Grover Washington Jr. He and his ensemble played at our local college a few years ago, and although I am not really a fan of the avant garde jazz they were playing -- it's hard for me to enjoy music if I can't find or follow the beat or the rhythm -- they played a single piece in their final set that was quite literally transformative. The music carried me up, down, out, around the universe it seemed! And, finally, back to earth and back to our little concert hall. When they finally stopped playing the hall was utterly silent. The band members looked at one another, uh-oh, the old white folks didn't like that one I guess. Then I, and everyone else there, erupted. We shouted, clapped, cheered, hooted, whistled, whatever we could do. It wasn't only me who was transported by that music, it was everyone who had the pleasure and honor and pure luck of having been there.

What can I say. Go to music events. You never know what might happen!

You just took us there with you. Fantastic. Now I just need to hear it someday. Thanks.

Best wishes for the lovely Carol...

WOW! Wish I could have been there.
Fleetwood Mac one of my all time favorites groups. Last saw them in the late 80’s. Lindsey Buckingham did a 20 minute guitar solo which made the whole place go absolutely crazy. Must have been an almost 5 minute screaming clapping ovation. Buckingham does not get credit for what a great guitarist he is.

Prayers  and positive thoughts for Carol, Dave. Well Wishes that they find and take care of her issue .

I wasn't much of a concert goer. I did see Paul Revere and the raiders at a NY Mets double header. They played between games and it was worth the price of admission back then :D. The last concert was down at Borgata Casino in AC. Saw Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. The music was good and they managed to put on a good show.

I don't know if anyone is interested in the rants I've done about insurance, but I have more news.

I've been telling my agent I don't want "replacement value insurance" for several years now, and I don't want the 80K worth of personal property insurance that goes with it, and he's been telling me that "the rules have changed" and I was now required to have it if I wanted to insure my home.
So I've been doing a lot of research including the state laws and "rules" and the insurance company and what they sell.
It turns out the state doesn't specify that you have to have RVI and they don't specify any requirement for any specific percentage of PPI. and checking with the insurance company I found out that they sell both Actual Cash Value AND Agreed Value policies... which is what I've been asking for all along. AND they don't specify a specific percentage of PPI unless it is a RVI policy.
So at this point I'm sure my agent has been screwing me.

I went into his office for a face to face and pretty much played dumb, but let it slide that I'd contacted the insurance company directly and found out that they sell the policies I would want to buy.
So now I have quotes for my home that not only are for Actual Cash Value (I let it slide that he ignored my request for Agreed Value), but also have a designated 20K PPI value instead of the 80K that was ridiculous.

He also found a cheaper company for my car insurance.

Net savings over $500. The Actual Cash Value policy even values the house higher than the Replacement Value policy.

I've contacted the state and have the contact information to lodge a formal complaint. Depending on what happens tomorrow when I go in to pay for my new policies, I will make a decision about whether to lodge a formal complaint or not.

What bothers me the most, even more than being taken advantage of myself, is that if it's happening to me it's also happening to a lot of other people.

    Stay tuned, news at eleven...

Good morning all and happy Friday! Forecast here calls for a light dusting to 2 inches of snow starting around noon. Forced to bring the Tacoma to work, the bike doesn't handle real well in snow. :pccoffee:

Good morning all. This coasting I have been doing is giving me a glimpse into retirement days ahead in a few years. Today? Oil change, tire rotation. Just turning 30k miles. Bought Dec. 30th 2023.

***Service advisor is recommending a fuel system service at 30k miles...he said 3rd gen Tacomas have head issues and this would save a major repair down the road...WTH?? Is this true?*** $425 that I'm not looking fwd to spend. Any opinions?***

After that, going to Costco, take back a couple things and get a refill on my contacts before the insurance ends.
Then to the cardio doc for the follow up after stress test, and heart monitor. We'll see what he says.
    Then washing the truck.

Have a wonderful day, alla y'all.
