I can't say which would be best but i can offer a few thoughts that might help. One issue with tray racks in parallel like 1Up and others is that when side by side, bikes always seem to be trying to occupying each others space--even when mounted in reverse directions. Modern MTB's have wide bars and they are always bumping into the seat of the bike next or the bars 2 bikes over. This was my experience toting around 2-3 on a 1up triple. You can try to offset them a little front to back but its fiddley.

This is something that northshore racks and that lolo rack seem to be immune to with the tilted bar mounting orientation-- much more inherently space efficient and compact. Regarding security, this is just my opinion but if a 150-200# rider can beat on the bike at a bike park and crank out rough miles perched atop the saddle, i believe a 30# rig can safely hang from the bars without worry.

    Bar and saddle spaghetti!

ive ran into this with 1up , Thule, and yakima. Im sure all tray style. Its always worked relatively easy by putting dropper down and slight forward position on each bike. I also ride an xl and most of my buddy's ride large and its been alright. Really no issue with my wife's small and my xl as you'd expect but I've carried a few of my xls at the same time and they work without issue too. point being I guess that if I forget the seat up I have to start over :D

Yea the parking sensors go off in reverse. I normally turn them off when the rack is on

Yea, appreciate and agree with all the thoughts. I have owned and used many racks over the years, including a 1up tray and an Alta Rack, so I'm very used to the pros and cons of each from a loading/unloading stand-point.

The benefit of mounting the 1up trays in the way I plan to is that I can mount them staggered or further apart on the cargo carrier to avoid interference between the two bikes. I also happen to know that my bike and my wife's bike often play very nicely together on a 1up rack. I'm leaning towards your thinking regarding security as well, plus, if the Lolo racks were damaging handlebars regularly then I bet there'd be reports of it on the internet.

The Lolo option is much cheaper and simpler so I think I'm gonna try it first.

We either get 2000 microbrands or Trek and Specialized.

I just hope the bike industry was more kind to their employees than Party City was to theirs. Showing up for work one day and being told don’t worry about coming back tomorrow. Today’s everyone’s last day.

we knew performance bikes was closing physical stores a month or two before hand, at least at the location i was at. was bitter sweet, but also the deals on things were really good. i think i finally used all the extra stuff i bought, but still might have 3 or 4 sets of BB7 pads somewhere lol.
luckily i graduated college a bit before so it was just a side job for discounts and staying in the industry for a bit.

i would expect bigger manufacturers to a little more upright and honest with their employees than a regular retail business like performance.

I remember the last bike crash that was in the early 2000s. Price point suddenly canceled their orders and their website was redirected. I think they were trying to make a bike brand at the time, SETTE?? if I recall.

    not enough.
yeah. this happened a few weeks ago. I've talked with my local dealer about it and he feels fairly confident rocky's going to come out okay in the long run. the canadian CCCA is kinda like a chapter 11 bankruptcy here. not exactly but similar. essentially they're tryign to reorg and reconsolidate debt. next 6 months will be interesting for them.

I’m getting flashbacks of how Gary Fisher was just absorbed into Trek one day and their bikes became nothing more than mass produced re-brands.

Talking about the patrollers? They're on strike, not fired.
Besides, that's not PC, that's Vail. And they're a bunch of shit-bags, so par for the course. They shot themselves in the foot with that one anyways. Going daily ticket rate is ~$350 during the holidays. Lose a couple of days of income from tix sales, lose return customers, lose future income so you can save $2 p/hr for the highly-trained people who look after your resort and customers? Eat a :censored: Vail.

Oh yeah, PC aka Vail is gonna feel this one. Seems like it is really starting to grab hold on the PR front.
