I currently have Old Man Emu 90000 front struts with 886 springs. The struts have started to leak, but OME (ARB) said they no longer sell the 90000. If I go to their 93000 I would also have to replace springs, and I would prefer not to do that. If I go with Bilstein 5100’s instead, will these work with 886 springs? If so, how do I know what setting to I install them at the maintain the same ride height in the front?

How many miles / how hold are your Old Man Emu springs?

They may be at a point to replace anyway.

but yes from what I read you can add old man emu springs onto 5100. Just make sure you have the correct clip used.

Yes, the 886 spring will fit on the bilstein 5100. Just make sure the spring purch is all the way to the bottom.

    Thanks guys, all great info.

I’m still a little unsure on getting the right height in the front. Are there some measurements I need to take before removing the current setup? I like the way it sits now so just want to get it back close to that.

Why would you need new springs for the new OME shocks? Just use a spring compressor like you'll need to do for the 5100s. I've swapped springs onto OME front shocks for my own truck. I was blowing out 5100s every year or so with my 885 springs, so I switched to OME. Also, the 5100 is not valved or rated for 886 coils.

If you need a touch more height after install, you can throw a bit of top plate spacer on them. There's room for that on OME shocks.

The rep at OME said that the 93000 strut has a different spring seat so the older style springs won’t fit. I then talked to Headstrong Off-road who told me
That 886’s will work with the 5100’s.

I had 5100’s and OME springs. You couldn’t pay me to do it.
Had a hard time finding someone to take them for free.

the answer is: waste of time

id probably have a better ride quality falling down a stair case
Which wouldn’t require labor time wrenching parts buying to accomplish
