The local hobby store was still pretty wiped out but at least they're expecting a ton of shipments this week.

I couldn't walk out empty handed since I do need parts for my new build so I bought what is supposed to be a decent servo?

    20250102_140934.jpg

They did have Ecopower and several others I have heard about but I did say I want a good one so we'll see.

(Or did I mess up because it's brass?)

Heard good things about reefs servos. Wish we still had a local hobby shop. I have to order everything or fly to another island

I just hope it isn't too heavy up front because of it (if that's a thing).

Yeah, the servo will be mounted on the axle and now that I recall I do remember seeing brass servo's on comp rigs as well

New upper links for the bouncer. Seems significantly longer. These were offered for the F150 for the install of the same aluminum axle for the same reasons I have to.
They are 4mm longer than what I needed to make it stock, I figured lengthening the wheelbase wouldn't hurt anything and it would align the shocks again, which were angled out at the top.

New extended link with the old one.

The rear is done, you can see the better shock angle compared to the front.

Front ended up vertical, after adjusting the lower link to level the pinion, it got even better.

Little more slip showing now, still half inserted.

Went from 90mm wheelbase to 96mm , easier flex, same amount of travel. When the 36's show up, it should balance out the look.

Alright, another purchase followed by a question.

Opted to buy the LGRP Heavy Duty transmission, but just the transmission alone.

It's a direct replacement for an SCX24. I didn't purchase their Creeper motor cause I'm still considering the Furitek Komodo 3450kv. That and they're out of stock of their motor/transmission combo.

Anyway, I hear/read about motor mounts. Is it safe to assume I can use the Furitek motor mount on the LGRP for mounting the Komodo (or any brushless motor?). Or do I have to buy LGRP's cage-looking mount, even though it looks like it'd only fit their own motor?

I'm unsure how this whole motor mount and transmission combo works. If it's an "SCX24" platform I would think I could swap things without issue but then I see various mounts and more.

Sounds dumb I'm sure but not having parts in my hand makes it hard to make those determinations

I read about that last night, seems like it's the in house Creeper Motor that only fits the LGRP due to some hole spacing/size and not other transmissions. If I read it right, the Furitek should bolt up.

Personally, I'm on the fence with Furitek, I was more interested in the Creeper option.

Yeah so you read it the same way I did - their mount, is for their creeper motor

But, if I use a different motor then I should use that motor's available mount as well without issue on the LGRP transmission

The more I read about the creeper the more I considered it, but the length looks like it could be an issue versus a pancake-style motor

Also I meant to say Furitek up above in my other post regarding a different motor.

Oooh what made you go Cedar over their other models?

I learned about that one last night but looks rather long

With all the videos and reviews I watched I was stuck between a Cedar and a mini Komodo and really didn't see that big of a difference between the two. I would've went Komodo with a cheaper price tag and smaller footprint but was unavailable at the time. Size wise it's smaller than the factory ascent motor as well as the brushed injora I currently have in the truck. Just got it on the truck yesterday and excited to take it through its paces. Just waiting for my tx/rx to arrive on Sunday.

    @Roody

After a bit more time with the FCX18, I can't recommend it as much unless you can score it for $100 or less.

I did post here about how "clunky" the drivetrain felt and after more digging, the consensus is that the portals and transmission are both to blame. Now, mind you I felt this since day 1 so I'm pretty sure nothing has broken or stripped but I decided to put it up and run it both in low and high and it's crazy how bad it is (in the rear at least).

    https://youtu.be/80-KIFBXq_A?si=2Qv3sdlVeSXkVvPs

It's a fun rig for sure, and I could've saved a few bucks by not bothering with new links or the body magnet mount. Although it was in dire need of shocks and tires, and if I really want to enjoy it some more, ideally a new transmission (or motor/transmission combo).

Aftermarket options are pretty cheap fortunately, but this was meant to be a cheap rig where I didn't want to put much into it.

    @Strictlytoyz

    Ordered the Furitek Komodo :spending:

Would have definitely loved to go mini komodo due to the fact it would've allowed me to mount the esc directly behind it between the chassis rails. Did you get the Micro Komodo or mini?

Yeah, I love the FMS stuff on the surface but once you go beyond surface level fun and stock it starts to unravel. I'll still probably buy an FCX18 down the line for outdoor use (my backyard is somehow too small for 1/10 but too big for 1/24) but I'm good getting pissed off at my still-not-functional FCX24 and leaving it at that. FWIW, another front axle on the way, if this doesn't get it running for good then I'm done with it and will harvest parts and chuck the chassis into the river. [I won't actually do that, that's just the level of frustrated I'm at]

Putting it in writing. Next RC purchase is a Mojave Grom BLX. Have enough crawlers and only one basher that I only use outdoors. And that truck (1/16 E-Revo VXL) is a hoot but feels far from indestructible. Could use something that is just ready to mess with whenver.

    This one

    ftk-fur-2256.jpg

It's supposed to creep stupidly slow, which will help seeing as how I went with a transmission using stock gearing.

Thinking I'll be going with the Lizard Pro for an ESC as I'll just need something basic (but reliable).

This style motor will allow me to keep the 15 degree skid and keep it forward facing versus buying the optional 10 degree skid and mess with my CG for the new chassis.
