I think you're smart to be skeptical. Dealerships seem to thrive on selling fear and "cheap insurance".

I'd buy a bottle of Heet in the red bottle to clean the injectors (not even knowing if it's better than the cheaper yellow bottle) and use it once a year and call it good.

Can you call Toyota direct and ask them? Bust the guy if he's lying.

Ken , yes im still dealing with kidney problems /issues from the surgery I had back in September 2024 .I've been noticing more blood in my urine and my Urologist thinks my stents in my right kidney is the cause . I'm having another surgery on February 24th for my left kidney . They will also investigate the right kidney to see whats causing the problem

Busy schedule Jim. At least with work you get a break away from your heavy schedule you will incur when you retire. It seems when you retire you never get caught up...but at least you have the time to try to catch up :D.

Good Morning Bill :hattip:. How have you been?

Service writers must get a commission for selling injector/ throttle body cleaning :notsure:. They try to sell it by fear of damage to the engine, better fuel economy, or just part of planned maintenance. Check the manual that came with the truck to see if it says anything in there. Like Travlr said, a bottle of red Heet should clean the injectors. Plenty of aftermarket producs that will do the job.

Have a good day and be safe folks :fistbump:

    Morning Ken
Just been fighting this cold or whatever it is I have . Seems to have moved into my chest now . Started with headache and stuffed up head ,then irritated throat and now a cough . Got some different cough medicine on the way . People are saying everyone is sick around these parts . I think a lot of parts of the country also . Urgent Care around here is being overrun
Hopefully by Monday I’m better. Trying to avoid going to doctor but I have had pneumonia before years ago and do not want to go through that crap again .

RSV seems to be hitting a lot of people too. I think all of us isolating caused a big drop in infections... but that lead to a lot of people not getting their immune system strengthened by having colds/flu/whatever. I think it's actually good to get sick once in awhile to recharge your immunities. Those that don't get sick already have good immune systems. In any case, take care.

I know what your going through Bill. I had a 3 day stay in the hospital with the flu and pneumonia . The doctor pumped me up with antibiotics which helped. Still have a bit of a cough and hopefully it will end soon. Talk to your doctor and see if he can prescribe some antibiotics for you. Take them and they do help. Take care

The third generation uses both direct and indirect fuel injection, so there is no carbon buildup like in other direct-injection engines. The $425 fee is nearly pure profit for the dealer, hence why they push it.

Use a good grade of fuel (chevron, shell), as they have better detergent additives. Gas is the same; it's the additive that makes the difference.

Fluids, front and rear diffs, and transfer cases should be changed.
Did you put 30,000 miles in one year? Highway miles are pretty easy on vehicles; use the factory recommendations.
I have 36,000 miles after four years, but I have a lot of off-road drives. Some days, it might have only been fifty miles, but it took 8 hours. Hence, I used the "heavy use," which calls for more frequent maintence.

My first concert was the Rolling Stones 2nd America tour in 1965.

 Chuck. Hope you do not need sugary.

Sound advice. My next oil change will include rear end and transmission fluid change along with a tire rotation. My 09 4 cyl access cab has done well over the years. Replacing the upper and lower control arm assemblies last year was a costly adventure. Learned that the difficulties with replacement was a common problem.

@johneman Get well for your winter vacation.
@boatswain Sorry to hear about your friend's arm problem. Therapy will help.

Good morning. I have a slight congestion problem so I will be taking it easy today. Slept in till 7:15. Fricking cold outside at 26 degrees.

Yes 30k in first year. I’m in sales and have Florida and south Georgia for territory. That will remain the same when I start my new gig on the 13th. I try to use Top Tier stations when possible. Supposedly good additives in that stuff. If your stations use Top Tier you’ll see a decal on the pump.
Here is a website that will show stations near you.
    https://stationfinder.toptiergas.com/

edit to add there is an app for your phone as well.

So sorry. Hope the procedure corrects the problem.

I would rely on local sales reps to shuttle me to customers. Semiconductors. I have years of "new city, new day." In Florida, I'd do early morning flights (there is less chance of flights being canceled or delayed). In one year, I managed 120 hotel stays. Two nights in the same hotel was luxury. It was no fun at all; my idea of vacation was two weeks at home! Of course, my wife wanted me to take her out to dinner after two weeks on the road! LOL. Two-person team: my sales guy was "coin driven," and I was the tech guy.

My daughter played on a travel team during high school. She traveled all over Texas (driving) and to California, Colorado, and Florida for events. She was my good luck charm, as I constantly got bumped to first class when flying.

A friend of mine here in PA used to set up one of his bikes like that just for winter road use. I follow a fellow FJR owner in Sweden who does that for his winter riding. Both of these guys are crazier than I am.

agreed on all of the above and have done that in the past when I had all of USA for my territory. Now I’ve dialed it back a bit. I had 82 nights in hotels this past year. I will have a small sales team to manage now in my territory and joint calls will be in their vehicle mostly.
I love home cooked meals and after all the chain restaurant junk, I love coming home to a fresh salad, piece of steak or fish and a big hug!

:lalala:Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Must have slept twisted, because my back is killing me this morning! Oh well, shuffle slowly off to Buffalo! Have this weekend to get some water on the pots, and drips in the faucets. Five overnight hard freezes in a row, but days will be in the 40's, so it's just protect, not go crazy.

My wife had a complaint when playing pickleball a month or so back. Turned out one of the older stents in her leg was failing, and was replaced with a completely new kind of stent. Hope it turns out that simple for you.
