What newer product did you buy exactly?

And you're right, definitely more clarity.

Not yet, I'm going to start collecting parts for a front end rebuild, control arm bushings and what not

Since you'll be doing that, what is it with people replacing their LCAs versus buying new ball joints and/or LCA bushings?

    Of course I'm talking 2nd Gen+

I think the balljoints are kind of a pain, don't know for sure. I'll probably try and find a used set to refresh.

I found a pretty big press in my uncles shop I'm sure I can use for whatever.

I never looked into the process, maybe I should just do that.

For 1st Gens, I know people replace their LCAs cause OEM bushings are pricey, and/or their shit is rusted like crazy.

Didn't know what the reasoning was for 2nd Gen and up. Your truck and my rig use a similar setup so I'll be watching you do yours.

I had zero issues with my 1st gen bushing, think they came from Cali though

I might be wrong but I seem to remember that Toyota doesn't sell just the lower ball joints for 2nd/3rd gens which is why a lot of people just buy new arms rather than use aftermarket lower ball joints on them.

I wouldn't be so stuck on OEM for 2nd gen's, maybe it isn't worth replacing though, will have to look into it more.

after 220k with atleast 60k of those not being babied and knowing the PO did the same thing I do, I think it needs attention

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Same for LC100s. That's why 555 ball joints are so popular. Super easy to change while the LCA is still on the truck. Many people install new OEM bushings in their original LCAs. There are some 555 LCAs appearing on the market. They are not cheap. I did buy some AC Delco premium LCAs for the 100 series and replaced the LBJ with 555. Total cost was a lot less than a new OEM LCA with ball joint. At the time I made purchases, AC Delco LBJs were reboxed 555 from Japan.

The AC Delco LCAs turned out to weigh 1lb more than the OEM that they replaced. Very sturdy made product. No issues with bushings under heavy load and rough terrain.

Unfortunately, then I hit a tree, the LCA stayed intact and ripped the mount out of the frame. I can tell you that suspension components that hold up to my abuse over rocks and rivers with over 7,200 lbs of load, will be good to normal drivers for decades.

And yet they could only figure out how to make 250hp from a 7.3 liter motor. At least it gets only 15mpgs

Is there a better way to get rear shocks off the studs before I start hitting them with a dead blow
Only been on a couple months and way more stuck than my old ones were
    Fresh bushings are tight ig

Pry bar? But that'd probably do some damage if you do it wrong

Mine would come out by hand

I’m sure I could get it off with a hammer
Just don’t really want to start swinging on my almost brand new shocks

Really, just pry them out by hand

Not trying to be that person, but I was swapping out shocks often (both new sets) due to their valving being different on my Tacoma

Swaps became a 5 minute ordeal each time

Getting the top off, would allow you to swing and rotate the bottom one to loosen it, and get it off
