Such a shame it’s not as solid as advertised. I was looking at this when I first got my truck but couldn’t stomach the insane price tag for the small power bump

Significant power adding is NEVER cheap, but this one adds torque exactly where these trucks need it most, and completely transforms the truck into a an adequate hauler, stops the endless shifting gears (shifting was crazy constant when towing), plus makes it more fun to drive. For me is the best investment I have in this truck, and without it, was on the verge of going up for sale. Also, is a very clean install, so it looks factory, under the hood. I have trouble understanding how anyone can be disappointed with this mod, but there have only been a few. After this install, I am so happy with the truck that I will keep it for a long time, and have not hesitated to invest in other upgrades like stereo and sound deadening.

A lot of good points here, but it’s important to separate the hardware from a bad install or bad tuning.
The Magnuson TVS1900 setup isn’t about chasing dyno numbers, it’s about adding torque exactly where these trucks need it most. It eliminates constant gear hunting, especially when towing or running heavier builds (bumpers, 35s, campers, etc.), and makes the truck much more driveable and responsive.
For anyone worried about reliability: the TVS (Twin Vortices Series) blower design Magnuson uses is the same style used in OEM applications like GM’s ZR1 Corvette and other factory supercharged vehicles. It’s a roots-style supercharger engineered for long-term durability and consistent boost, not peak-only power like a small turbo setup.
The big catch is tuning, the out-of-the-box tune that ships with the kit is basic and concervative. But when a tuner who knows what they’re doing properly calibrates for things like throttle sensitivity, fuel trims, and shift points (for automatics), the whole truck wakes up and drives like it should have from the factory.
If you’re comparing options, here is a good supercharger collection that’s worth a look if you want to see what’s out there before making the call.
Bottom line: For people who actually use their Tacoma to haul, overland, or tow with weight, properly tuned, it’s easily one of the best upgrades you can do.

I think the issue is the price really. The added performance is there but the price for that modest increase is what gets people doubting whether or not this is worth it. I personally think it is worth it. My unit goes now and it is bit more fun to drive it. I have gone for the sleeper look though.
