First day of muzzleloader in Ohio today. Legal shooting time for me started 15 minutes ago. Temps in the upper teens now and wind chill is in low teens - supposed to drop into single digits as the wind kicks up to around 15-20 mph!!! Roads are snow covered and about 5-6" on the ground. I snow-blowed (not sure if this is a real word or not) 9 driveways + ours yesterday. Likely will redo all of them today once the snow quits. Township plow puts a 6"-12" 'dam' across everyone's drive as it does its job.

May try to get out later today??? Season ends on Tuesday. Gonna be COLD every day, but wind may not be as bad on a later day.

DAMN, the older I get, the colder I get!!!!!

We had the lottery for "Controlled Hunt" land the other day which includes my "Deer Graveyard" area of the watershed.
    Slug gun only area.
Both the wife and I got shot down as well as another guy I know and his crew.:bananadead:
From 2010 till 2020, I got it every year. Since then I got it only 2 of the last 5 years.
My BIL got selected, but he won't go in there unless he goes with me.

Looks like I will be getting familiar with a "no lottery" state forest about 15 min from here.
State land is slug gun, *but* I can use a muzzleloader as well, plus the separate muzzleloader season.
Question is how bad it gets hammered in there. :notsure:

    Fuggin lottery.:goingcrazy:

That is your weather today??? T-shirt only and sun???

    PXL_20250104_125221135.jpg

6" of fresh stuff this morning and wind chill in the single digits!!!

Wasn't too bad snow blowing as I was moving 99% of the time as opposed to sitting still in a ground blind.

On my 8th driveway (out of 9 total today), the snow blower wasn't actually throwing any snow???? Being there myself, I couldn't hold the hand control down and look in the front to see what was going on. The mail lady was at that house and she did say the auger was turning, but it still wasn't working right. Went home and put it in the garage and got the wife out to hold down the hand control while I looked at the front. Auger works fine, but the impeller wasn't moving. Shut it down and cleaned some of the packed snow out. The impeller turns freely!!! So, I am hoping all I did was break off the 2 shear bolts that hold the impeller to the shaft. Ordered Husqvarna replacements from Amazon - should be here Wednesday. No way I am driving up thru Amish country in these weather/road conditions. Not supposed to snow much more (yeah, right, Weather Channel??) until after Wednesday.

Sorry for the long winded post.
